Josh and Reva go after Sheila. Lizzie has a surprise for Jonathan. Coop decides to challenge Alan-Michael.
Cassie and Josh have just returned from their trip and are still hanging around the airport while RJ looks at planes. They’re reluctant to go back into town. They had to cut their trip short so that Josh could meet with Atticus, the family lawyer, and find out if Sheila was sniffing around Billy’s property. Cassie kisses Josh and walks off to take RJ home. When Josh turns around, he finds Reva welcoming him home. He suspects that she wants to crash his meeting with Atticus and she admits that she feels responsible for the mess since she introduced Billy to Sheila. They start arguing about whose more responsible when they’re finally interrupted by Atticus who remarks that ‘nothing seems to have changed’ between them. They bring him back to Cross Creek and try and pry information out of him about Sheila, which isn’t easy because he continually wanders off topic. They find out that she did visit him looking for information about Billy and he shows them a box of photos and documents that he let her examine. He begins wandering around the house nostalgically, disappointed that they’ve divorced yet again.
Josh and Reva start to go through the pictures and see images of themselves when they were young. She begins to reminisce about what was happening in the photos; when they first danced under the stars and kissed for the first time. He tells her that she always tells this story the same way. ‘It’s a good memory,’ she says beaming. He changes the subject and finds a copy of Billy’s will. It stipulates that, in the event of his death, his estate will go to his wife. This is enough for Reva and she grabs their coats and starts running out to get Sheila. Josh catches up to her and tells her that they have to be nice and talk to her before they do anything. They hurry to the Beacon and Josh tries to keep her calm, but when they walk in on Sheila and see her on the phone with Billy’s credit card in her hands, Reva lunges at her and grabs her by the throat.
Ava walks out her door in the morning only to find Coop standing there with coffee. He says that he’ll be there every morning. ‘If you want to do something nice for me,’ she says ‘you can give me some space.’ She walks away, leaving a frustrated Coop to pace around the hall. She goes straight to Alan-Michael’s room and sits down, eager to get work. He asks her if things with Coop are over, but she doesn’t want to talk about it. She just wants to stand on her own two feet and learn from him how to take control of her life. He tells her to always go with her gut feeling and she gets up to rush out and take care of something.
At CO2, Buzz helps Coop clean up after he makes a mess. Coop is angry that everyone is interfering with Ava’s and imagines that Alan-Michael and Jeffrey are trying to take over her life. Olivia overhears Coop says that Jeffrey went to see Ava at the airport and she becomes enraged and stalks off. Buzz asks Coop if he apologized to Ava for withholding information from her and he refuses to admit that he’s done anything wrong. Buzz thinks that this is a mistake. Ava is her mother’s daughter and those women ‘don’t like to be handled.’ They want to own their own mistakes. Coop points out that Ava doesn’t look for trouble though. Buzz says that, if he can’t live without her, he has to fight for her. Coop then hurries over to Alan-Michael’s and tells him that he knows that Ava wasn’t given her promotion because of her job performance. He’s not going to let Alan-Michael win. Alan-Michael says that it’s nice of him to inform him that they’re competing and shuts the door in Coop’s face.
Ava has gone to Cedars to visit Jeffrey. He’s reluctant to say anything. She shows him that she’s wearing the earrings he gave her and tells him that she doesn’t understand why he got himself beaten up defending her and bought her a gift he couldn’t give her. She won’t let him cut her out of her life before they’ve even had a chance to be a family. Then Olivia walks in and gives them both the veil eye. Ava doesn’t want to be involved in another one of their fights so she walks out. Jeffery explains that he couldn’t have stopped her coming to see him. Olivia still wants him to leave town; there’s nothing keeping him there anyway. ‘I wish that was true,’ he admits and says that he has no idea what he wants from Ava. However, he isn’t leaving town as long as Olivia’s there. Resisting the temptation to hit him (because he’s already beaten up) she starts to attack him in other ways as Buzz stands in the doorway watching them with a strange feeling. When Ava returns to her room, she finds a pair of tickets from Coop with a note that reads ‘we’ll be there soon.’
Jonathan is looking over all the gifts that Sarah got for Christmas when Lizzie comes down. He tells her that she should go out and have some fun. She had a life before Sarah and shouldn’t give that up. He gets her coat and practically pushes her out the door. As she trudges through the snow, he calls Tammy and tells her to meet up with him later. He thinks that Lizzie will be okay on her own soon and they’ll be able to stop sneaking around.
Cassie and Tammy meet up and she tells her mother that she spent most of her Christmas waiting for Jonathan in a bar. Her mother is rather appalled that she would do that to herself but tammy insists that it was worth it because Jonathan is leaving Lizzie; they just need to make sure that she’ll be okay first. Cassie points out that ending a marriage is a big deal and Tammy reminds her that she ought to know since she’s done it recently. Cassie protests that with Josh and Reva it was different because they were getting divorced and Reva can look after herself. Tammy leaves and hurries over to the Beacon to set out whipcream and chocolate and lay on the bed in a negligee while she waits for Jonathan.
Lizzie meets up with Beth at Outskirts. She says that she needs to be a ‘real wife’ to Jonathan in a hurry because she can feel that he’s going back to Tammy already. Using a convoluted metaphor, she tries to explain to her mother that she and Jonathan aren’t sleeping together and they need to so that she can show him what they can have. Beth reminds her that what they don’t have is love. Undeterred, Lizzie whispers her plan to her mother. She calls Jonathan over to the bar and, when he arrives, she promptly informs him that they are running off on their honeymoon. He’s flabbergasted. She tells him that Billy will look after the bar and they’ll be taking Sarah with them. He tries to protest, but she aggressively pulls him to the door exclaiming that they really need to get away and she’s already had his things packed. He finally convinces her to let him make a call to Billy. She leaves him for a moment and he calls Tammy to tell her that he is being dragged away on a honeymoon and he can’t stop it. Lizzie returns to drag him out the door.
When Lizzie and Jonathan arrive at the island house, she wants to stay in and he wants to go out. She reminds him that there are two people in the marriage and she needs him. Looking for excuses, he tells her that she shouldn’t have to try this hard and then promises to spend the rest of the day with her after he takes care of something. He goes outside to make a call when he finds Tammy standing there. She says that he can’t have a honeymoon without her and they start pulling each other’s clothes off as Lizzie walks out and sees them.
