    Adding another confirmation to the reality of Guiding Light 's cancellation, on Tuesday night, Kim Armstrong, one of the show's producers, gave the town of Peapack-Gladstone a $10,000 check as a parting gift and sign of appreciation. The series was reluctant to end their association sooner, hoping that there was still a chance that they might find life on a network other than CBS.

    Soap opera writer Judi Ann Mason passed away in Los Angeles at the age of 54. Mason made TV history as one of the major African-American writers for the medium.
