    GL's Pelphrey Plays Television

    Tuesday, August 14 2007

    Tom Pelphrey (Soaps.com)
Fans of Guiding Light's former star Tom Pelphrey will have the opportunity to see him in a very different setting soon. The popular and award-winning young actor will be pushing his talents in a different direction when he debuts in the new production of Kevin Mandel's A New Television Arrives, Finally. Pelphrey will be playing the Television of the title. His character is an ambiguous, perhaps even dangerous, figure who arrives on the doorstep of a couple and guides them through the comic hell that is contemporary entertainment culture. Pelphrey will be playing the role on alternating nights with Victor Villar-Hauser taking the part the rest of the time. The couple who they tease, torment and tantalize will be played by Kate Russell and Bryan Fenkart. This production is being directed by well-established director and instructor Kevin Kittle.

This is a welcome return to Pelphrey's first love, theater. He has performed on stage before, largely in the rigorous demands of classical theater before doing more experimental work with other young performers. He joined Guiding Light as the troubled Jonathan Randall, vengeful son of Reva Shayne and Prince Richard in 2004. For that role, he won a Daytime Emmy as Outstanding Younger Actor and a legion of loyal fans. Since then, he has appeared on the television series Numb3rs and The Burg before making a brief return to GL in support of the book being released about Jonathan this fall (see our article here .)

A New Television Arrives, Finally is being produced by Live From Planet Earth Productions, a New York based company which is dedicated to experimental theater. The play will have a limited engagement from September the 6th until the 30th. Performances will be held at Theatre 54, 244 West 54th Street, 12th floor (Broadway & 8th Avenue) with all show times beginning at 7:00 PM. For tickets, please visit this link.
