GL's former Phillip on stage in New York

    Friday, July 27 2007

    Grant Aleksander (Soaps.com)
People always tell us how much they miss Grant Aleksander, the man who left an indelible mark on a beloved era of Guiding Light when he played Phillip Spaulding. While it's unlikely that Mr. Aleksander will be coming back, fans in New York will be able to get their fix when he appears on stage at the International Fringe Festival this year. The respected actor, director and animal rights activist will be taking to the stage along with fellow former soap star Laurence Lau (Another World, AMC) and Veronica Cruz (GL). They are all part of the cast of Night by award winning playwright Philip Gerson. The play tells the story of three couples from different generations who all find their lives intersecting over one bittersweet night in New York City. The Occasional Theatre will be giving the show its world premiere on Friday August 10th as part of the 11th annual New York International Fringe Festival.

Performances will be at the Connelly Theatre, 220 East 4th Street on Friday, August the10th at 9:30pm; Sunday, August the 19th at 2:15pm; Monday, August the 20th at 6:30pm; Wednesday, August the 22nd at 9:45pm; and Saturday, August the 25th at 4:15pm. Tickets are available for $15. If you are interested, please visit FringeNYC or call, if in New York: (212) 279-4488, if outside New York: 1-888-FringeNYC. Tickets are on sale now.

So it's unklikely that Mr. Aleksander will return to the show? I thought the whole reason the writers made sure we all knew Phillip was alive, with Grant Aleksander's face is so that he can return to the show someday. Oh well. If you read this Grant, we miss your work on the show. Good luck with the play!

As much as we all miss Grant Aleksander, we want a new Phillip to come back to SF. Grant is Phillip , but , since he won't come back, we need a recast Phillip in the storylines again. Good luck, Grant. You are missed!

I'd love to see Philip - Aleksander return, but even if they replaced him, it would be cool.

I wish I could see him onstage. This would be great. Anyone in the NY area on the 22nd of August should go!! Then report back to us. We'd love to hear the scoop!

Congrats to Grant Aleksander on "Night", "The Big Bad Swim", "Fields of Freedom" . . . What a great actor! Grant Aleksander is missed on GL and it's hard to imagine anyone else as Phillip, but it would be nice to see Phillip return to Springfield even if that means another actor playing the part.
