Guiding Light Says Thank You To Peapack-Gladstone.

    Thursday, July 16 2009

    (Soaps.com)
Adding another confirmation to the reality of Guiding Light's cancellation, on Tuesday night, Kim Armstrong, one of the show's producers, gave the town of Peapack-Gladstone a $10,000 check as a parting gift and sign of appreciation. The series was reluctant to end their association sooner, hoping that there was still a chance that they might find life on a network other than CBS.

The series began shooting in the New Jersey borough two years ago, leasing properties which became its set and background in a groundbreaking production experiment. "We appreciate everything you all have done for us and it's been a wonderful experience," Armstrong told the mayor.

The town has happily embraced the series since they welcomed it in. Mayor William Horton and councilmembers thanked Armstrong and the show's producers for their positive and productive relationship. They plan to use the $10,000 to install benches and a gazebo in Komline Park.

Guiding Light was the first show to answer to the economy years ago (when we were told there is no recession, keep buying things!) and cut production costs dramatically, esp by moving to Peapack. Is it still to expensive for P&G to put on?! Aren't several of P&G's newer plants opening in Asia? There will never be another P&G product permitted in my home. We boycotted P&G once with Tide years ago...start it up again!

I am 42 years old, my grandmother and my mother watched Guiding Light as I was growing up. It seems like the characters are part of my family, I'm still a loyal viewer today. They also used P&G products as I also have too, for many years now. I will never buy another P&G product! If it's too expensive for them to keep the tradition of Guiding Light then let P&G see how expensive it is to lose the loyalty of their customer base! I LOVE my Pantene but I will never buy it again!
