CBS Commemorates The Coming End Of Guiding Light.

    Friday, July 03 2009

In the shadow of the impending cancellation, CBS has launched a new section to their Guiding Light website to celebrate the show's history and lead viewers along to its final episode on September 18. There are photo galleries, video highlights and brand new interviews with stars of the show, past and present, to illustrate the series' many famous plots and characters over the years.

Here's a snippet of what they have posted so far. Do you remember your first day on set?
Crystal Chappell: I do. I believe I was standing behind a tall, fake bush. I was spying on Reva (Kim Zimmer) and Josh (Robert Newman); that's why I was brought on. In true soap villain fashion I am hiding behind some foliage.

Check back as they celebrate in honor of the coming conclusion of the historical soap.

As a long time viewer of GL, finding out that this is the "LAST" Bauer BBQ really tells me that after September 18th, we will never see GL again. I really believe that the show's executives had no intention of having the show go beyond it's September 18th finale airdate on any other network. It's rather sad and quite frankly, CBS "honoring" the show is a kick in the stomach since it was that very network that canceled the show in the first place. I don't think CBS even DESERVES to be allowed to honor GL at all. Shame on CBS for pulling the rug out from under long time fans of the show and for putting so many good people associated with the show out of work.

After watching this show for 30 yrs now it is a shame I think I will boy cot CBS. I have laughed and cried with Reva and Josh hated every time she left the show and rejoiced when she came back. This is the only soap I have been true to and it is a crying shame that it will no longer be on the air. My sister told me this a few weeks ago and I didn't believe her and come on here after not being on in several months to find it is true it is a real heart breaker. I always wanted to be on GL as Josh's gf/ wife I would have loved to have played the part. I have a son I named Joshua and his nick name is Bud... go figure! A girl can still dream can;t she. I'd still love to met Kim and Robert someday after all it was them who got me hooked on the show and Harley as well... This will be a big heart breaker.. GL should find another chanel and not stop the show....

I am very sad to see Guilding Light come to an end. I have been a faithful fan since I was 12 years old when I started watching with my Grandmother while she taught me to crochet. I am now 60 and still watch. I have watched the actors and actresses grow up right along with me. I don't understand why another station has not picked it up. There are thousands more fans out there just like me. I can't believe they can let this historic program come to an end after all these yeas. The story lines right now are returning to the good story lines we are used to. I think the problems have been the writers, but it is finally taking off again. Is it really too late?
