Guiding Light Gives Something Back to the Fans

    Thursday, December 07 2006

In order to celebrate their 70th anniversary, the cast and crew of Guiding Light have decided to give something back to the public that's rewarded them for so long with their loyal viewing. To do this, GL has announced a year long partnership with the Hands On Network to support them in their work rebuilding cities devastated by Hurricane Katrina. This will also be, GL producer Ellen Wheeler says, a tribute to the show's creator Irna Philips and her belief in community. 'We're hoping that this theme and the show's commitment to Hands On Network will resound with our viewers and motivate people to be the change they wish to see in their communities.'

During the week of January 22-26, GL will shut down its studio and join volunteers in the rebuilding of the Gulf Coast. While there, the show's stars shall be filmed by the crew for a special episode set to air on February 14th 2007. This will be part of a three episode special focusing on the spirit of volunteerism in the community.

Following the February 14th episode, cast members will be touring from one city to another to help with relief efforts. If you are interested in volunteering and working alongside them, please review the schedule below.

Feb. 24/07 Atlanta, GA Hands On Atlanta

Has anyone ever heard of the New England states and perhaps thought about touring them??
And also, while I think what u are planning sounds like a good idea, your storylines still suck and do Guiding Light a favor and bring back some good old fashioned soap acting like we used to see, not this far fetched stuff u are trying to cram down our throats for instance, what u tried to pull with Harley with the electricity!! Give us all a break for some intelligence. Sounds like your writers go day to day for a storyline. The old actors must be rolling in their graves watching this show and some of the ones that are still playing, no wonder Reva thought about leaving. Can you blame her!

Keep up the good work guys! That is a great idea. Jude2, I totally agree with you. The story line sucks and that whole Harley thing was LAME!!! We need some drama back, not this retarded story line that keeps dragging on and on. Like Josh and Cassie for example. That situation is sick and Josh and Reva totally belong together. Cassie is such a hypocrite and I hate her so much. Why can't she leave instead of Jonathon?

Cassie has go to be living in a dream world. I hope Josh will realize soon just how shallow this woman is. Josh even makes me mad. He now knows that Reva didn't tell him about having cancer, because she didn't want to take him away from his dream of building the VA hospital. I don't agree with Reva for keeping this a secret from Josh, but that is still no reason for Josh and Cassie to get together romantically. Good grief...she is Reva's sister! Cassie is so insecure that she is afraid for Josh to be around Reva. I love Reva, and hope she and Josh will be together again soon. Cassie is ruined in my eyes. I hope she leaves town.

I think that you need to get some better storylines for this show. The Reva having cancer was a good one, but I think that she and Joshua should be together, everyone knows they belong together and him sleeping with her sister is CRAZY!!! Cassie needs to find her own man and leave everyone else alone. Everything else is going ok. just do something about the cassie/josh/reva triangle.

I can't agree with you more about Cassie.Has anybody ever notice that she usaully hooks-up with married men or men who already have girlfriens. There was Dinah and Hart and then Richard Reva's ex,also there was Richard brother I forgot his name. And know Reva's husband Josh who became her ex. Why can't she find a man who comes into town unatached? know wonder Dinah tried to kill her.Its kind of ironic that Cassie was a stripper and strippers have abad rape for missesing around with married men. I guess the stripper never is far from the POLE.

I have been watching GL as long as i can remember, I am 47 yrs old so that is a long time watching. I am proud to hear what they will be doing, being from South Louisana myself and having being spared the wraths of Katrina and Rita, I have personally seen the devestation of what these storms had done and know that some people need help. A community about 30 mintues south of where i live there were homes in the middle of the road. It was a scarey and terrible time, the worst thing in never knowning for sure where and who will be hit by these storms. I say KUDOS to all the stars and who ever is affliated with this project.

To follow up from my previous comments, although i love what GL is doing to help rebuild, i would love to see old footage from GL in the past. It would be very interesting to see where it all began and how it got to where it is today.
