GL's Frank Dicopoulos' Exciting New Project

    Wednesday, November 29 2006

The cast of Growing Up With Loukoumi
Guiding Light's Frank Dicopoulos (Frank Achilles Cooper) has been keeping busy in the time he's spent off the set of the show which has been his home since 1987. Recently, he was hard at work on his television project On the Set which took viewers behind-the-scenes of Guiding Light and won him a Silver Telly Award. Now he is part of a new and exciting project which will introduce his talents to a whole new audience: Children.

Dicopoulos has teamed up with fellow actor Olympia Dukakis, as well as singers Gloria Gaynor and Constantine Maroulis (of American Idol) and CBS news correspondent Alexis Christoforous for the new children's book and CD Growing Up With Loukoumi by Nick Katsoris. The book follows the story of a lamb named Loukoumi who wanders along, wondering what to do when she grows up. In the course of her travels, she meets up with various friends including Gus the bear, Marika the monkey and Dean the dog (voiced by Dicopoulos). Each of her friends encourages Loukoumi to become whatever is closest to her heart; she just has to work hard and always believe in herself. It's an important message as Dicopoulos has suggested, 'The most important thing a child can have is dreams.'

Growing Up with Loukoumi is the second of the Loukoumi books which Nick Katsoris has published. The first book received many enthusiastic reviews, including one from The New York Times. A Loukoumi plush toy has also been created to complement the book. Two dollars from every copy sold will go to benefit a national children's charity. Everyone involved with the project hopes that it will have a positive impact on children's lives and give them role models who will encourage their individual dreams. 'Without dreams I don't think there is any future,' Discopoulos says adding, 'I think children are so creative and always live in a fantasy world, so to encourage them at a young age to have these dreams is probably the biggest gift you could ever give them.'

On Sunday November 5th, the Children's museum of Manhattan hosted the official premiere of the book and CD. This featured a live reading with the stars of the album and the debut of Gloria Gaynor's original song 'Believe'. We received out copy of the Loukoumi book here at Soaps.com and it's fantastic! We're very pleased that Nick Katsoris got in touch with us to spread the word about this book with its positive messages to children about life's possibilities and the value of believing in yourself. It's also great for parents to bring the CD with them during car rides and could make a valuable holiday gift.

Has anyone purchased this book yet? I would recommend it to anyone who knows some little ones. I'm really glad Nick got in touch with us to spread the word about this book.

The messages the book gives to children are about possibilities, and believing in yourself. It's really very sweet. Great for parents to bring the CD with them during car rides!

Hint hint! Buy it. It's for a good cause, too!

Someone mentioned Jason Cook; previously(Shawn Brady,Days of our Lives) as a possible replacement for Tom Pelphrey as Johnathan. I hope the writers /producers are listening. If anyone could do the character of Johnathan any justice it would be Jason Cook, he was fantastic as Shawn.

YES, Now that's the Josh I remember. He said some nice things to Reva today. Josh you played that role well on today. I am so gratful that Reva is not lashing out @ Cassie. By her not yelling and yeiding to Cassie's level, which is really low in the first place, shows just great of a woman Reva really is. Reva hats off to you.Cassie is really showing her IQ by wanting to fight for a man who has been married and divorced 4/times to the same woman REVA, how stupid can you be. Reva you have held your own and I take my hat off to you, because I would go and really tell my disloyal sister how much she continues to hurt me and then I would beat her down, just joking. I would let her know where I stood in regards to her so call relationship she's having with my ex. Cassie hasn't tried to go and check on Reva ,or make sure she was ok or anything now that says alot writers, lets get a little more love going on between Reva and this so call sister of hers.
