    Ex-Guiding Light's Ellen Parker's Burglar Convicted. (Updated.)

    Ellen Parker (LIRM)
    Less than one hour...

    Updated on May 21:

Last Friday, May 18, Pelzer was sentenced to 12 years in state prison for entering the window of Parker's apartment.

    Previously Reported on May 2:

Last August, the West 22nd Street apartment of former "Guiding Light" actress Ellen Parker was broken into. The actress had just fallen asleep, leaving her bedroom window open, when she was woken by a noise. The thin, dark-skinned man, later revealed to be 43 year old William Pelzer, was reaching for the actress' jewelry box on her dresser. It was Ellen's scream that sent him back out the window.

Though the man left no evidence behind, he was well-known to local police, included in a line-up and pin-pointed by Ellen, who told the jurors that he looked "Like a Giacometti" (a 20th Century Swiss sculptor). His cell phone records also placed him in the neighborhood on the night of the home evasion. The New York Post is reporting that it took those same jurors less than an hour to convict Pelzer of second degree burglary. He will be sentenced on May 18 and could face 15 years in prison. His defense lawyer, Kevin Canfield, claims Pelzer maintains his innocence. They plan to appeal.

Ellen is best known for her role as Springfield's Maureen Reardon Bauer from 1989 to 2000. Since leaving Daytime behind, the actress has appeared in such series as "Law & Order: Special Victims Unit," "Ed," and "Blue Bloods."
