As Bill struggles with them, Phillip stops them and declares that the man they want is his son, James. Beth begs him not to do this but Phillip won't back down. James throws his hands up and confesses. They cuff James and lead him off with Bill. Beth is left hyperventilating while Vanessa asks Matt to go and take care of Maureen. Daisy admits to Ashlee that she knew about all of this. Beth confronts Phillip for breaking his word, saying that turning himself in would have been better than this. Lizzie wants some answers but she won't get them from her father. Ashlee offers to drive her to the police station. Everyone is left gabbing. Beth runs off. Phillip tries to explain things to Billy and Vanessa. After they walk away, Daisy confronts Phillip and tells him that his son will never forgive him. As Phillip steps into the elevator, Alan looks in at him. "It's not easy having a son... is it, Son?" he asks.

Beth argues with the authorities until Daisy arrives. Beth tells her to go home. When Bill comes out, Beth begins apologizing. Alan calls her and offers his support. Getting off the phone, Alex accuses him of exploiting this situation. Alan doesn't see why he shouldn't be reaping the benefits of this disaster.

Alan eavesdrops as Phillip explains that James seems to be trying to push him to sacrifice himself just to prove that he loves him. He's sure that something is seriously broken in their son and he doesn't know how to reach him.

Alan goes downstairs and offers to escort Beth to the party. She worries about James. Alan tells her that her son is smart and they need to stop underestimating him. After Alan leaves, Beth asks Phillip to leave with her. He's staying behind to talk to the SEC. James comes down the stairs and takes his mother to the party. Phillip makes the call.

Bill impatiently scans the crowd for Doris. Lizzie wanders over to her family. Lillian and Alex are chatting. Lillian thinks she and Buzz should have a double date with James and Daisy. He doesn't want to listen to lectures from his father after everything that he did. Phillip admits that he hasn't been much of a father but he wants that to change. He's having a loan wired from China to pay off the debt. Everyone should be spared if this works out. James seems moved. Daisy walks in and watches them from across the room. James calls her over and tells her that he's not going to prison. She's happy; she's been there visiting enough times already. Daisy brings up his drawing and shows it to Beth. James is mortified but his parents are happy. Phillip leaves to take a call from the bank. There's a problem and the money hasn't been transferred. He tells his family that everything is fine and then asks Beth to leave with him. James asks Daisy to come over to his place so he can draw her. She tells him it was weird to see him with his parents. He's starting to think that his father may come through for him.

Philip promises that he will help him, unlike the way his father used to pit him against his brother. He asks her how his funeral was. "It was great. Olivia got drunk and fell on your grave," she says. They laugh and hold hands.
