    All Kinds of Wrong.

    Wednesday, April 29 2009

Meanwhile, in Florida, Alan begins making suggestions to Lizzie about what they can do but she's already seen most of the attractions. Lizzie tells her mother all about what Bill's been doing for her. Alan points out that she already had one childhood. "A happy one," Lizzie says. Remy runs into them and asks them if they've seen James. He tells them about all the people he invited down there. Alan's annoyed to hear about it. Lizzie tells him to watch the ride. When he turns to look, the ride flies by and soaks him with a wave. They get him an official Universal Studios t-shirt. "Now that I fit in with all the other nincompoops, why don't we do a ride?" he says. Bill takes Alan on a roller coaster and does his Woody Woodpecker impression while Beth and Lizzie laugh.

Alan is trying to get Beth on his side. She continues to refuse. As he worries about how Phillip's return is tearing the family apart, Lizzie reminds him that no one invited him there and tells him to go home. The ride rushes by and splashes him again. Beth and Lizzie laugh.

Back at the mansion in Springfield, Alan is on the phone setting up the family's trip to Florida. Beth rolls her eyes. Alan tells her that they can't let this happen and asks her to pack. He calls Hilda to pack his bags. As she looks at the travel plans, she wonders why there is no room reserved for Phillip. He explains that his son will be having some quiet time at Ravenwood. Beth refuses to go along with this.

Back at the mansion, James asks Alan how much family stuff he has to show up for. He has friends coming down with him. Alan tells him how important this mission is but assures him he'll have time to relax. James is eager to go but Alan thinks they need to wait for his mother. James flops on the couch to wait. Beth arrives and Alan promises that they will have family memories they've never had before. "I'm going to be sick and I haven't even been on a roller coaster yet," Beth groans.

    We're Taking Your Mother's Broom.

    Monday, April 27 2009

James runs into his mother at The Beacon. She wants him to stay with her, not at the mansion. He's more comfortable somewhere where he has his own bathroom and walks off. After he's gone, she tries to open the door and discovers that she has been evicted from her room. The manager shows her the paperwork and she realizes who was behind this. She leaves angrily.

When James gets home, Beth angrily walks in to lash out at Alan for having her evicted. He claims he wasn't trying to punish her. She belongs in the mansion with the family and he needs her help bringing Lizzie home. She agrees to go only so she can stop him from interfering. James asks if they can take the jet. "No, we're taking your mother's broom," Alan says.

As Beth walks down the stairs, Phillip nearly collapses as he jogs. She teases him, calling him a slacker. They talk about how lucky he is to have been pardoned. He can't understand why his son wanted to help him at all. Beth is sure that he did it for her but wishes she could have helped get him free. He came back knowing he was going to prison. She wonders why he came back then. He says he wanted to make amends and he is healthy enough to do it. When he asks her out to the movies, she turns him down; she has class.

    It's Never Enough.

At Towers, James catches Alan with his hands on Beth. They have an awkward moment when Phillip suddenly pops up for an even more awkward moment. Phillip tries to be friendly to his son but it's not reciprocal. They take him to the dining room to see Lizzie. Alex comes out to greet him and Phillip toasts to his family. He tells everyone how happy he is to be home. "In all the most important ways, we are just like any other family," he says.

Back at Towers, Bill is taking all of the credit for getting Phillip out of prison. Finally, James explains that he hooked up with the governor's daughter and called in a favor. Alan is impressed, but his parents are shocked. Lizzie thinks he's 'a dog' for stringing women along but Bill is also impressed. Phillip takes his son outside to ask him why he did this after he's missed most of his life. James lays into him for not being there, but thanks his absence for being the only reason he's not as screwed up as the rest of the family. He reminds Phillip of himself. "I hope not," James groans. He doesn't want anything to do with him.

    Doing Things Backwards.

    Thursday, April 09 2009

Phillip tells his family that the governor pardoned him, much to his amazement. He thanks them for what they did. They thought they had actually made things worse. Alan forces a grin while Phillip hugs Lizzie and Beth. Lizzie and Bill leave. Beth tells Phillip that they should go out for dinner to celebrate. When she leaves to make calls, Alan tells his son that Beth doesn't know what will make her happy. "You and I have a lot to figure out. Let's try to keep the collateral damage to a minimum," Phillip suggests. Beth returns to say that everything has been arranged. Alan pointedly offers to call Olivia. Phillip says that he and Olivia will work things out for their daughter's sake. Alan brings up the controversy Olivia was in but Phillip wants to avoid it.
