    A Growing Bond

    Thursday, February 15 2007

‘You see what happens when you love a child. I can’t imagine losing one,’ Olivia remarks as they watch Cassie leave. They go back to the bar. He wonders if they should say something to Cassie but she doesn’t think that would go well. On the bar, he has a gift for her. She opens it to find the framed portraits of her two daughters. ‘Not fair,’ she says with a forced smile. Then, Buzz gets a call from Coop saying that he and Ava are at Cedars. They rush off to them and Jeffrey follows behind.

Buzz and Olivia arrive at Cedars. They are happy to see that Coop and Ava are okay. Jeffrey follows close behind. Ava tells them that Alan-Michael is in surgery. Coop says that he just tripped. Jeffrey is relieved and is about to go when Frank stops them. He says that they might need a lawyer and he should stick around. Frank isn’t looking kindly on Coop’s excuses. ‘It seems like it’s suddenly open season on the Spualdings,’ he says. Ava claims that she didn’t witness anything and walks away to see how her boss is doing. Jeffrey follows her. She couldn’t get in touch with anyone in his family so she had to sign all of Alan-Michael’s papers herself. He tells her that she’s doing the right thing and she walks away. Jeffrey goes to Olivia and tells her that someone should be with Ava now. Olivia thinks that the someone should be him, but he thinks that she needs a mother. Olivia doesn’t agree, but she will admit that, when she heard her daughter was at the hospital, she felt worried. Ava annoys her, but she’s not a bad kid. Buzz is upset to see Jeffrey and Olivia standing together. Alan-Michael is wheeled down the hall. He has a spinal cord injury. It’s too early to know if there is paralysis. Ava promises that she won’t leave him.

    New Roommate

    Friday, February 09 2007

The Judge finally calls a recess and Daisy runs out. Gus tries to hold Harley back, but she promises that what she has for him isn’t any better. He takes her into the hall and explains that he was only trying to protect her daughter and their chances for adoption. ‘Guess what? It didn’t work,’ she says angrily. Daisy runs into her grandmother Reva down the hall and tells her that things aren’t going well. She begs her to help her fix things. Reva promises to help; Daisy is the only granddaughter she has left to look after now. The Judge calls them all back in and Jeffrey asks to have all of Daisy’s testimony stricken from the record. The Judge is non-committal about it, but what really matters concerning Daisy is that she proves that Harley is only a part-time mother and this has had negative consequences. Harley now assumes that they’ve lost. Daisy tries to run out of the room, but her mother stops her.

    More Harm Than Good

    Thursday, February 08 2007

In his room, Alan-Michael is on the phone doing damage control over Alan’s tabloid lifestyle. Jeffrey walks in through the open door. ‘If you’re here to rub salt in my family’s wounds, take a number,’ Alan-Michael says. Jeffrey is there to talk about Gus. ‘We never see him,’ Alan-Micahel says before moving on to what Jeffrey is realy there about: Ava. Jeffrey asks him to release Ava from her contract; he’s already violated it anyway by keeping her in Paris under false pretences. Alan-Mchael didn’t force her to do anything. Jeffrey tells him that he won’t let him damage Ava the way that Tammy was. This is a little over the top and Alan-Micahel points out that he has never lied to Ava bout anything...unlike Jeffrey who uses his lawyer’s act in a desperate attempt to get close to his daughter. ‘If you ask me, you’re worse for Ava than I’ll ever be,’ he says showing him the door.

At court, Jeffrey tells them all to just try and be positive. The judge arrives and begins by reminding them that this is not a trial; it is just a hearing of arguments to decide who is best suited to look after Sydney. Jeffrey tells the judge that Sydney won’t just be getting a mother and father, she’ll be getting an extended family. The family members each give their testimony about how they live big and love big and how close they have already come to Sydney. The judge finally calls up Daisy and she is very nervous. Harley butts in to explain that she gave Daisy up. ‘Just like Sydney’s parents walked out on her?’ the Judge says. This makes Buzz upset and he begins shouting until the Judge has him removed. Harley defends herself by stating that she made a very grown up decision in giving Daisy up when she did. Daisy adds that her mother has always been there for her when she has had the chance. She goes to sit when the other lawyer, Donovan, starts asking her questions. He takes out Gillespie’s picture and she admits that she recognizes him from the papers. He then shows a picture of Daisy with Gillespie and produces sworn statements from Daisy’s friends that she was Gillespie’s girlfriend. Harley is horrified.

    The Funeral

    Wednesday, January 31 2007

Jeffrey arrives to give his condolences and remember the time that he had with Tammy when he and Cassie were together. As the other mourners file in, the sombre mood is ruptured by the arrival of the Spauldings. Alan claims that he is only there to pay his respects. Harley asks him to turn himself in if he really means that. He walks right up to Cassie and offer his condolences. Josh tells him to leave, but Cassie stops him. This is Tammy’s day and she only wants it to be about her; besides, this is God’s house and everyone is welcome. Reva says that he’s lucky it isn’t her house or she’d kick him out.

RJ, Josh and Cassie return home to see that everyone is waiting for them. Josh is surprised to see that Reva isn’t there, but Billy tells him that she was very worried about Jonathan. Josh imagines that Reva can take care of herself now. Meanwhile, Olivia calls Ava and leaves a voice mail message asking her if she’d like to get together. She turns to see that Jeffrey is also leaving a message asking to talk to her.

    Tammy's Accident

    Monday, January 22 2007

Cassie is enthusiastically showing a friend all the wedding photos she took. She feels blessed and happy. Jeffery comes by, happy to see that Tammy is married. Cassie says that maybe, one day, he’ll see his daughter get married. She asks him to sit down and look over a real estate contract for her. She is planning on putting a down payment on a home for the ‘new family in town.’ Cassie concludes the deal and Jeffrey says that he’s glad to see her so happy. As he leaves, Remy comes by and Cassie offers to show him the wedding pictures. He suddenly gets a call about a hit-and-run and has to rush off.

    Milestones

    Friday, January 12 2007

Coop calls Jeffrey to get Alan-Michael's address in Paris. Seeing Buzz at CO2, Jeffrey informs him that Coop won't be home tonight; he had something to take care of. Buzz walks away, baffled about what Coop and Jeffrey are doing together. Olivia knows that this is all about Ava. She accuses Jeffrey of insinuating himself in her life. He can't be Ava's savior--'she doesn't need a daddy,' she's all grown up. Jeffrey reminds her that she felt all grown up once too and thought she was savvy. That's how she met him. If she could go back, wouldn't she want someone to help stop her from making a mistake? He walks away and she calls Ava, leaving a message offering her help if she needs it. Buzz interrupts and she pretends that it was a wrong number. They go back to his room to talk about their honeymoon. She thinks that they should go to Paris.

    Getting Away

    Thursday, January 11 2007

Jeffrey tracks down Alan-Michael and tells him that he is representing Ava. Alan-Michael sardonically accepts Jeffrey's 'daddy-like' concern for the daughter he's never known. Jeffrey's surprised to find that Alan-Michael is paying Ava twice what he's paying anyone else in her position. 'She's bright young woman,' he says trying to brush Jeffrey off. What concerns Jeffrey more though is that there is no fraternization clause in the contract. Alan-Michael cuts him short: He's not abducting Ava, he's helping her. He doesn't take advantage of young women, unlike some people… After Alan-Michael leaves, Jeffrey goes up to Ava's room to bring her the contract. She says that she’ll send him a postcard, yet, as she sits to sign, Jeffrey stops her. She's surprised and he apologizes; he just wants her to be sure. Spaulding are a tricky and dangerous group. Ava's looked after herself her whole life; she's under no illusions when it comes to Alan-Michael. 'As long as you look after yourself kid,' Jeffrey slips. Ava begins teasing him for this and points out that she's wearing the ear rings he gave her for good luck. Jeffery, uncomfortable and unsure, tells her to call him if she needs any help. She smiles as he walks away.
