The Truth Is We Can't Hide The Truth.

    Tuesday, August 25 2009

Mallet slowly walks downstairs and joins Marina and the baby. "I can't do this anymore... be a part of this family," he explains. She tells him not to do this but he thinks leaving is the answer; what they've been trying to be never will be. They can keep building what they have but it will only hurt more when it ends and that won't be fair for anyone. She thinks this is all because of Shayne and offers to try and figure something out. He thinks there are only two choices: They can give Henry to Shayne or he can leave.

Bill finds Mallet hitting balls at the baseball diamond. He thanks him for getting Dinah out of town. "You got some good instincts. Keep following them," Bill says.

Mallet goes back home. Henry's asleep. Marina tells her husband that a lot has changed but she still thinks they could make things work. They probably could, he agrees, but this is about Henry. He thinks that the child has a right to know his biological father. "The truth is we can't hide the truth. We're never going to be a happy little family... I didn't trust you," he explains. He repeats the two choices. She can't walk away from the baby. Mallet loves Henry but he can't share him with Shayne. He tells her to raise Henry and let Shayne be a father to him. She doesn't know how he can do this. Crying, he tells her that he's going. They kiss. He tells the baby how much he loves him and then tells Marina that if things had been different, they could have been happy. Taking his bag, he leaves.

At Cedars, the doctor tells Mallet and Marina that Henry is doing well. They talk about vaccinations and Mallet says they can get their hands on his parents' medical records. He tells his wife that he'll go and talk to Shayne.

As Shayne takes out the trash, Mallet approaches and asks if they can get his medical records. Shayne points out that this would mean people would know he was the father. Mallet knows and wants him on record in case the doctors ever need him. Shayne agrees as long as he's sure. Mallet thanks him and leaves.

Shayne arrives at Cedars and runs into Marina. She introduces him to the doctor and they fill out the medical history. As they go in and play with the kid, Mallet returns and sees them together.

Shayne visits Marina and tells her about the annulment. He wants to get his life back on track. They sit down with Henry. "I'm going to be there for you," he tells the baby. Mallet walks in, disturbed to watch Shayne playing with the baby and talking about Dinah. Mallet interrupts. Shayne apologizes to him for the way he's been acting and thanks him. Mallet leaves and Shayne takes out a stuffed animal for the baby.

Mallet goes home and catches Marina as she's leaving for the petting zoo. He offers to go with her. When they get home later, they drink beer in the yard and make plans for dinner. "This is good. Simple. Uncomplicated," she says. He stares off at the stuffed animal Shayne gave Henry.

Mallet and Remy are talking about what's wrong with Shayne. Remy still blames Mallet for a lot of his anger but Mallet says he was only acting to save Dinah. "He should suck it up and live with it," Mallet says. They get a call that there is a bar fight brewing.

At Farley's, Shayne throws a guy off his stool and they begin fighting on the bar. Mallet arrives as the bartender breaks up the fight. Mallet talks to Shayne like he's a little boy and leads him out to the police car.
