It's been thirty plus years since I last watched OLTL. Who is John McBain and why do I keep seeing remarks about his "fangs/ being a vampire" and what is his connection to Sam?

Also glad to see Shaun back on G/H, hope he gets a better story line.

Also, I hope the writers don't drag the Robin story line out much longer, seriously if this were real and someone was being held captive they'd do everything in their power to escape, even tricking their "nurse" or captor. You can't have a character be strong and smart one time then oblivious to life and week the next.
