At Towers, James catches Alan with his hands on Beth. They have an awkward moment when Phillip suddenly pops up for an even more awkward moment. Phillip tries to be friendly to his son but it's not reciprocal. They take him to the dining room to see Lizzie. Alex comes out to greet him and Phillip toasts to his family. He tells everyone how happy he is to be home. "In all the most important ways, we are just like any other family," he says.

Edmund paces in his room. "I was so close to being the kind of man who deserved to be your father," he says to a photo of Lara before storming out.

Dinah and Shayne take a walk to the tracks where he once parked the car. He thinks they need to remember the ways they almost destroyed themselves. She'd feel better if he wasn't hanging out with 'Mr. Time Bomb'. He's sure that Edmund has closure now that he knows the truth about what happened with Lara. They revisit the roof and he tells her to stop worrying about Edmund. She admits that he's changed but could just as easily change back. He has to run off and see his mom. She thanks him for this tour over their past and asks him to see her later. When Shayne leaves, Edmund comes down the stairs. He begins mumbling about loss. Dinah tells him he needs to go somewhere and start over. He's trying to forgive. Dinah reminds him of how Shayne has been suffering; she didn't want to make things worse by telling Edmund all of the details. "Maybe you were right to be afraid," he warns her. He rants and blames everyone. Dinah makes excuses and tells him that if he wants to hurt someone, he can hurt her. "Shayne has suffered enough," she insists. "Oh Dinah...it's never enough," he says.

Reva is watching Jeffrey and the baby on the webcam. As soon as Jeffrey closes the channel, he nearly passes out. Josh shows up at the door. He needs someone to help him get rid of Edmund. As Jeffery burps the baby, Josh explains what's been going on with Shayne and Edmund. Jeffery would take care of things but he needs to look after the baby. He asks Josh to get him his contacts for him, they're under his gun.

Marina is worrying as she leaves Mallet alone with the baby. She worries about money and the adoption investigation coming up. After she leaves, he calls up to Daisy and asks her if she wants to come to the park. She yells down that she is busy and then gets a text from James.

Back at Towers, Bill is taking all of the credit for getting Phillip out of prison. Finally, James explains that he hooked up with the governor's daughter and called in a favor. Alan is impressed, but his parents are shocked. Lizzie thinks he's 'a dog' for stringing women along but Bill is also impressed. Phillip takes his son outside to ask him why he did this after he's missed most of his life. James lays into him for not being there, but thanks his absence for being the only reason he's not as screwed up as the rest of the family. He reminds Phillip of himself. "I hope not," James groans. He doesn't want anything to do with him.

When James goes back inside, he asks his sister if she's upset that he helped their father get out. She wanted him out of jail. Her mother ushers her away and he greets Daisy as she arrives. She's shocked when he greets her as Susan and tells her that he is James Spaulding. She's about to walk out. He wants her to stay; she knows his family better than he does. "I hate your family," she says. He thinks that's even better and brings her over to the family table. Alan explains that she shot him and isn't welcome. Phillip reminds his father that he shot him and says she is welcome. As everyone eats, Alan asks his son what he will be doing with his freedom. Phillip asks for the salt.

Mallet runs into Jeffrey in the park. They talk about their wives and changing diapers. Jeffrey's glad that Reva can't see what a mess he's making of this so far. Mallet tells him he's having some legal problems and Jeffrey offers to help out. They sit. Jeffrey thinks his baby is yellow. Mallet calls Marina to ask what's up. She suggests it could be jaundice. Jeffery runs to Cedars.

Mallet goes home. Marina is exhausted. Everyone else is gone so he asks her if they can have sex; it's been more than a week and she fell asleep last time. The phone rings. It's the CPA scheduling an appointment to discuss the adoption.

Josh meets with Roc Hoover in the park. He hands him a picture of Edmund. Eddie hasn't done anything yet and he wants to keep it that way.

Shayne goes to Cedars to see his mother. She asks him if Dinah is the reason he is so happy. She is. Reva probes for details but Shayne says there are things a man shouldn't tell his mother. After some prodding, Shayne explains that Lara was pregnant when she died. He adds that she died because of him. He tried to kill himself, several times, but Dinah has saved his life. She talks to him about suicide and admires him for getting out of his 'dark place'. "Welcome back to our sunny little neighborhood," she says. She wants to see Edmund though, just to make sure he's not a threat. He tells her that she can't protect him and he will be fine.

Dinah and Josh meet at Farley's. They have the same concerns about Edmund. Until Shayne sees him as a threat, he's going to need them to protect him.

Roc tails Edmund across town. Edmund gets the drop on him and knocks him out with a chain.

 image

When Shayne shows up at the photo shoot, he is startled to find that Edmund is the only one there. "I don't think you're going anywhere," Edmund tells him.

Back at Cedars, Jeffrey tells Reva that their son may have jaundice but he's taking care of it. She worries about Shayne. He already knows all about it.
