Phillip tells his family that the governor pardoned him, much to his amazement. He thanks them for what they did. They thought they had actually made things worse. Alan forces a grin while Phillip hugs Lizzie and Beth. Lizzie and Bill leave. Beth tells Phillip that they should go out for dinner to celebrate. When she leaves to make calls, Alan tells his son that Beth doesn't know what will make her happy. "You and I have a lot to figure out. Let's try to keep the collateral damage to a minimum," Phillip suggests. Beth returns to say that everything has been arranged. Alan pointedly offers to call Olivia. Phillip says that he and Olivia will work things out for their daughter's sake. Alan brings up the controversy Olivia was in but Phillip wants to avoid it.
Daisy realizes that she forgot her phone back in the dorm room. She sneaks back in. "I had a feeling you'd come back. Girls usually do," James says with a smile as he greets her wearing no more than a towel. She turns while he pulls on his pants. He doesn't know why she keeps coming back to remember some guy who messed her up. She wonders if she ever knew who he really was. As they bicker, Amy comes in and assumes that Daisy is the maid. Daisy introduces herself as his girlfriend. "I thought I was your girlfriend," Amy says. Daisy says that he is ashamed of her. They make up stories and Daisy complains about how awfully he treats her. Amy flounces off, declaring that she needs to see other people. James thanks her. "I've been trying to think up a way to dump her for months! That was awesome!" he says. He kisses her. She slaps him and runs out. He chases her down. She says he's rich and egotistical and not her type. He gets a message from his mother asking him to a family celebration. He asks her to come with him. Daisy turns him down when he invites her to Towers. "See me at the restaurant. Wear something nicer!" he shouts at her as she walks away.
Remy is dejected and angry. He offers to sign the divorce papers but Christina tells him to wait. He lists all of the complaints she's made against him. Everyone else leaves him, so she can too. She doesn't want to divorce him on his birthday. He still wants to end things and offers to get a witness and get it over with. "We're done here," he says. She walks out.
Lizzie and Bill go outside. She admits that she is surprised by how happy she is to have her dad home. He tells her to stop fighting it. She's used to holding her breath and waiting for catastrophe. He promises that he will be there for her and suggests that the family dinner can be fun; they can sit together and whisper about everyone. When they go inside, Beth and Phillip are dressed and ready to go.
Lizzie goes upstairs and gets dressed. She calls Hilda to help her with the zipper but she's not around so Bill comes. He's not sure he can get close to her and control himself. She suggests they accelerate things. He offers to get Hilda. "Don't bother," she says, zipping up by herself.
Christina sits by the nurse's station at Cedars and cries. Lillian asks her what's wrong. She's messed everything up and just sent Remy divorce papers. She's lost her dreams. Lillian tells her that love is the only dream that counts.
Remy paces while his sister looks over the divorce papers. He admits that he is in love with Christina. He does everything backwards. "I don't need to know that you are in love with Christina. She does," Mel advises.
Remy and Christina meet Mel at the courthouse. She tells them that once the papers are signed, it's over and they can't take it back. Remy blames himself for blowing everything for her and refuses to continue lying. Mel suggests that they don't rush. Remy signs the papers. "I don't want to lie anymore," he says. Christina doesn't either so she signs. "That's it," Mel explains.
Remy walks Christina home. She can't believe they made it as long as they did. They laugh as they remember waking up married. Of all the screw-ups in his life, this was the most fun. They wish each other good luck and kiss. The goodbye kiss turns into more. They slip into her room and begin tearing off their clothes. After sex, they joke about what to call themselves now. She says they may be the dream she never knew she wanted until she got it.
The Spaudlings arrive at Towers, followed by Rick. Alan thought this was a family celebration. Beth says Rick is practicality part of the family. "For you Beth, every man at this table is practically part of the family," Alan quips. Lillian arrives and teases Alan for being grumpy. He drinks. Lillian and Alex discuss Buzz. Alex tells her how much Buzz misses her.
Phillip meets with his daughter outside to explain how he got out of jail. She makes it clear that he still terrifies her; he just killed someone after all. He claims he did that for her safety. She reminds him that he kidnapped her for the same reason and she doesn't see the difference.
Bill finds Alan getting drunk at the bar and taunts him. Alan wanders to the washrooms and begins confronting Beth about cheating on him and making him a laughing stock. "I didn't have to try very hard," she says. He grabs her arm and warns her not to push him. Suddenly, James appears. Beth leaps into his arms and he tells his grandfather not to treat his mother this way.
Daisy walks back into the school and tells a guy in a hood that she is willing to have fun with him. It turns out not to be James. She's embarrassed.
