It seems that this year's 70th anniversary passion for doing charity work is living on even among actors who have left the cast of the show. Stephanie Gatschet (former Tammy Winslow) has sent out an appeal to all of her fans to help her and many other people out.
"My light is my family. And this past year, a family member of mine has had a long struggle with lung cancer. So far, it's been a successful battle, thank God. ... I ask you to please help us raise money for this important cause, by either joining our Guiding Light team (and walking with me and other Guiding Light cast members), or by sponsoring our team in the walk. Registration to walk is only $20, and contributions of any amount will of course be greatly appreciated!"
This request has also been echoed by Caitlin Van Zandt (Ashlee Wolfe) on her Myspace page recently as she also called out to fans of the show to show their support the cause. Currently Tom Pelphrey (former Jonathan Randall), Jessica Leccia (Natalia Rivera), Caitlin and Stephanie will be taking part in the National Lung Cancer Partnership's second annual Free to Breathe (TM) Philadelphia event with other actors expected to possibly join in. This event is part of the Partnership's nationwide campaign to raise public awareness about lung cancer and to fund research for treatments. It will take place on Sunday, November the 4th and will involve a 5K run/walk, one mile walk, and a rally with an educational fair following the event.
Even if you can't make it to the event in person, you can still participate by sponsoring the group of Guiding Light actors.
