Biography

George Alvarez made his debut on Guiding Light in August 1999, in the role of Father Ray Santos. Cuban-born Alvarez received his Bachelor's of Fine Arts degree from Parsons School of Design. After graduating, Alvarez worked as a bartender at Studio 54 where he developed an interest in acting. He was discovered at the Grand Hyatt Hotel in New York during a casting call. Prior to Guiding Light, Alvarez worked on the daytime dramas Port Charles, General Hospital and The Bold and the Beautiful. He has guest-starred on such prime-time series as N.Y.P.D. Blue and Beverly Hills 90210. Alvarez also was featured in the films The Pizza Connection, Suicide and The Art of Dying. On stage, Alvarez performed in A Burning Beach, La Puta Vida and Cracow. In his spare time, Alvarez enjoys yoga, biking, skiing and video games. He currently has a film in development and is working on his directorial debut for a small independent film he wrote. Alvarez and his beautiful wife Lisa have five children and they currently reside in Westchester, New York. His birthday is January 25.
