Actor Eric Dane announced to TV Line today, that he will be leaving his role as Dr. Mark Sloan on "Grey's Anatomy" this season. "I am extremely grateful to everyone at "Grey’s," ABC and Shondaland for the experience and memories I have had over the course of this run. It has been wonderful to work alongside and learn from a creative force such as Shonda Rhimes."
Rhimes acknowledged that Dane's character, Sloan, is a fan favorite, and remarked, "After much consideration and conversations, he and I have decided that this is the right time for his storyline to end."
Danes will reportedly appear on several episodes in Season 9, so as to give the character an appropriate exit story.
