Patrick Dempsey's company, Global Baristas LLC, is officially the new owner of the Tully's Coffee chain following a hearing in bankruptcy court on Friday January 11. The judge, Karen Overstreet, approved the sale of Tully's to Global Baristas LLC, despite AgriNurture Inc contesting the winning auction bid placed earlier in January.

According to FOX News, AgriNurture Inc., the company who teamed with Starbucks to bid against Patrick Dempsey's Global Baristas LLC for Tully's Coffee stores, has decided to contest Dempsey's winning bid. Apparently the aforementioned team made a joint bid of $10.6 million, while Dempsey's camp bid $9.2 million. If AgriNurture/Starbucks had won, their plan was to make some of the Tully's shops into Starbucks stores. A bankruptcy judge is slated to look at the sale on Friday January 11.

According to CBS News, Patrick Dempsey is claiming to have beaten out Starbucks in the auction for Tully's. Starbucks countered that the final decision won't be made until January 11 and that they may still be in a back-up position to win. Stay tuned!

"Grey's Anatomy's" Patrick Dempsey, who plays Dr. Derek 'McDreamy' Shepherd, is heading up a group that plans to make a bid to save Seattle's Tully's Coffee, according to E! News. The Washington-based chain has filed for Chapter 11 bankruptcy and is in the process of closing several locations. Dempsey and his group will make a bid for Tully's at a bankruptcy auction on January 3. If successful, hundreds of jobs could be saved.
