Actor Eric Dane, who recently exited "Grey's Anatomy" as Dr. Mark 'McSteamy' Sloan, has signed on for his first post-"GA" project, according to Zap2it. Dane will star in a pilot for TNT's "The Last Ship," which will be executive produced by Michael Bay ("Transformers"). He will play Captain Tom Chandler, whose Navy ship and crew survive a global catastrophe, leaving them among the remaining few humans still alive on Earth. The premise is based on a book by William Brinkley.

Soaps.com wishes Dane the best with this new project.
