Shonda Rhimes' series about public relations has been given the name "Scandal," and is expected to debut early in 2012. Actress Kate Burton, who played Meredith's (Ellen Pompeo) mother on "Grey's Anatomy" has signed on to join the series beginning in episode five, according to TV Guide. Jeff Perry, who played Meredith's father is also acting on the project.

Shonda Rhimes' new series about public relations has received the go ahead from ABC, who have ordered a pilot, according to Entertainment Weekly. It's the first show to officially get the nod from the network for the 2011-2012 television season.

The creator of Grey's Anatomy and spin-off show "Private Practice," is reportedly at work on a new television series which will center on the drama of working in public relations. According to New York Magazine, Shonda's new show will be loosely based on PR consultant Judy Smith's life, with the concept focusing on the consultant and her quirky staff.
