Will explains that this week's theme is to find and perform the world's greatest love songs. When the kids find out that their glee club is short 250 dollars to compete at Regionals, Sugar willingly donates the money while Artie and Rory watch in admiration. Sugar then invites the gang to attend her "Sugar Shack" Valentine's Day party at Breadstix but claims that only couples can attend. Later, Finn and Rachel are surprised in the auditorium by Rachel's dads, Hiram (Jeff Goldblum) and LeRoy Berry (Brian Stokes Mitchell), who offer their full support of the young couple's engagement. Meanwhile, Mercedes, Quinn and Sam meet as "God Squad," the school's Christian group. Mercedes introduces everyone to McKinley's newest transfer student, Joseph Hart ("Glee Project" winner Samuel Larsen). The four students decide they will provide singing telegrams to McKinley to help raise money for good causes.

As Valentine's day approaches, Kurt gets various letters and gifts from a secret admirer, whom he assumes is Blaine. At glee practice, Mike and Tina perform a duet of "L-O-V-E" by Nat King Cole. Meanwhile, Artie and Rory compete for the affection of Sugar, who is crazy about the attention she's receiving. Brittany makes Santana a Valentine's Day playlist, but as the two girls attempt to kiss in the hallway, Principal Figgins hauls them into his office. Santana voices her anger about being discriminated against because she's a lesbian. Later, Finn and Rachel excitedly reveal to the rest of the glee club that they are engaged, but are met with huge opposition from Kurt and Quinn. Artie doesn't seem to care, as he's too focused on trying to win Sugar's heart by singing Mario's "Let Me Love You." Outside, the God Squad stops Rachel and delivers a musical telegram from Finn. They perform "Stereo Hearts" by Gym Class Heroes featuring Adam Levine.

Back at glee practice, Rory sadly reveals that his student visa will not be renewed next year and that he'll be leaving McKinley. He performs "Home" by Michael Buble as Sugar watches with tears in her eyes. She tells Rory that she feels worse for him than she does for Artie, and therefore wants Rory to be her date to the "Sugar Shack." Later, the God Squad discusses Santana's purchase of a musical telegram for Brittany. They debate about whether a Christian group should sing a love song for two gay people. After the meeting, Sam gives Mercedes a Valentine's Day gift but Mercedes feels tremendous guilt about having cheated on Shane. She declares herself unfit to be with either of the two guys. As Sam walks away, Mercedes performs Whitney Houston's cover of "I Will Always Love You." Meanwhile, Rachel and Finn have dinner with both sets of their parents at Rachel's house. The parents purposely set up a sleepover between Rachel and Finn, knowing that the two will argue about each other's bedtime rituals. It escalates into a full-fledged fight that convinces Finn to re-think the engagement.

At Sugar's party, Kurt shows up early to meet his secret admirer. Kurt is floored when the admirer turns out to be Dave Karofsky, the bully who used to torment Kurt at McKinley! Although Kurt is flattered, he reminds Dave about his loyalty to Blaine. Meanwhile, Finn and Rachel make up and decide that they should actually get married sooner to allow themselves more time to get used to one another. Their parents' plan has totally backfired. The couple joins the rest of the gang at Sugar's party where the God Squad honors Santana's telegram to Brittany by performing a mash-up of "Cherish" by The Association and "Cherish" by Madonna. Brittany and Santana share an intimate kiss while everyone cheers. Suddenly, Blaine appears and rips off his eye-patch while Kurt watches with joy. Blaine leads the gang in a group performance of "Love Shack" by The B-52's. As the performance ends, the scene fades to a tribute screen in memory of the late Whitney Houston.

Mario's Mutterings:

I'm glad to see that "Glee" has gotten red-hot once again, just in time for St. Valentine's Day! Love was certainly in the air at McKinley, for better and for worse. Though I continue to be disgusted at the Rachel/Finn love-fest, I ate up every minute of teen angst portrayed between Sam and Mercedes. I fall in love more and more with these two characters every week and am legit rooting for these two to get back together. Speaking of Mercedes, if your eye was dry during Amber Riley's performance of "I Will Always Love You," you better get your a** to the doctor because something is seriously wrong with you. Classy tribute added by the producers. Rest in peace and long live the beautiful music and talent of Ms. Whitney Houston!
