New student Rory Flanagan talks to Brittany at her locker. She speaks to him as if he's a lucky leprechaun whom only she can see, but it's evident that all other McKinley students can see him as well. Meanwhile, Quinn and Puck butter up Shelby with gifts in hopes that they can get to know Beth better. Shelby invites the two over to babysit Beth while she goes out, but they use the time to plant evidence that makes Shelby look like an unfit mother. Meanwhile, Sue reveals live on her television show that the budget for McKinley High's musical is over two thousand dollars, a total waste of taxpayers' money. As a result, Figgins cuts the funding.
New Directions decides that they will fund their musical by selling advertising space in the program. Meanwhile, Rory and Finn meet each other and Rory reveals that he's an exchange student from Ireland. Since Rory is staying at Brittany's house, Finn asks him to keep an ear out if he hears anything suspicious about Brittany or Santana wanting to jump ship with Mercedes to Shelby's glee club. Rory, who constantly gets picked on at school since he's from out of town, sings "Bein' Green" by Frank Sinatra. Later, it is revealed that Kurt's dad has arranged for several local businessmen to fund the school play.
Santana takes Brittany on a date and the two hold hands. She tries to convince Brittany for the two of them to join Shelby's club. Back at school, Quinn tells Puck that he needs to get a real job so that the two can support their child. Quinn has called child services and it seems that the two will soon be getting their daughter back. At glee practice, Blaine reminds the club that it's a priority for them to stay positive and have fun. He and the group sing Katy Perry's "Last Friday Night (T.G.I.F.)." Santana expresses her discontent over the "Blaine and Rachel" show. Later, Santana approaches Rory and says that he's going to grant her a wish.
Rory sneaks into Brittany's room and reveals that Santana also knows about him, and that she wants Brittany to join Shelby's glee club with her. Still thinking that Rory is a magical leprechaun, Brittany agrees that she'll jump ship from New Directions. Rory relays the information to Finn. Meanwhile, Will visits Burt and tells him that he should run against Sue Sylvester in her campaign. Burt reveals that he's willing to run as a "write-in candidate," and Will agrees to be his campaign manager. Back at Shelby's house, Puck visits and plays a song on guitar for Beth, "Waiting for a Girl Like You" by Foreigner. It becomes evident that he feels empathy for Shelby as a single mother.
Burt takes to the airwaves and announces that he is running for congress against Sue. Meanwhile, Shelby's new glee club practices Christina Aguilera's "Candyman" while Finn and Will watch in disappointment. Later, Brittany tells Rory that she's aware leprechauns don't really exist. Santana then tells Rory that he should disappear so that she has Brittany all to herself. Rory continues to get picked on by the kids at McKinley but Finn steps in and saves him. Finn brings Rory to glee practice and says that he'd like to join. The newcomer auditions with "Take Care of Yourself" by Teddy Thompson and blows the group away. To close the show, Puck and Shelby are shown making out at her house.
Newcomer Damian McGinty makes his debut on "Glee" and does not disappoint! I was very excited to see the "Glee Project" winner start his story arc, and I'm interested to see how far they take his Rory character. Aside from that, how about Puck and Shelby locking lips at the show's end? This is going to add a great dynamic to the baby Beth drama, and I really have no guess as to how it's going to turn out. Are you rooting for Quinn to take her baby back, or would you rather see Puck and Shelby team up to provide for the baby girl? Sound off!
