The Alma Awards, which celebrate entertainers who have upheld and promoted a socially proactive image of Hispanic culture in the media, has recognized Naya Rivera (Santana) from "Glee." She has been nominated for Favorite TV Actress-Comedy and Favorite Female Music Artist. In addition, Ricky Martin, who played Spanish teacher David Martinez, is up for Favorite Male Music Artist and Gloria Estefan, who played Santana's mother Maribel Lopez, is up against Rivera for Favorite Female Music Artist.
Fan votes and box office, Nielsen and Billboard rankings, in consultation with the NCLR ALMA Awards Production Leadership Team will determine the winners. Go to Alma Awards to vote. The awards show will air on NBC September 21 at 8:00 PM EST.
