The Oxygen television network has announced that "The Glee Project," a reality competition inspired by Fox's smash hit comedy "Glee," will premiere on June 12 at 9.00 PM ET. The show, which has been in development for the past year, will aim to find and train a group of talented performers who will compete for a seven-episode guest spot on "Glee's" upcoming third season.

Though "The Glee Project" will air on a different network than "Glee," the masterminds behind the show remain the same. Ryan Murphy, creator of "Glee," will serve as executive producer and will also have an on-screen role. Helping Murphy to choose the talent will be "Glee" casting director Robert Ulrich and "Glee" choreographer Zach Woodlee. It is also expected that regular "Glee" cast members will make guest appearances to mentor the talent throughout the competition's 10-episode run.
