"Glee" under fire for using Glitter track.
This week's "Sexy" episode of Glee may have raised more than people's eyebrows. It's also raised their ire.
Soaps.com has learned that "Glee" is under fire by various children's charities, including Kidscape, for covering Gary Glitter's "Do You Wanna Touch Me? (Oh Yeah)." The song, made into a hit by rocker Joan Jett, was written by Glitter, a convicted pedophile. Gwyneth Paltrow's "Glee" version has soared to the top of the American music charts, meaning Glitter will now be paid significant money in royalties.
In the United Kingdom, where the "Sexy" episode won't air until next month, network executives are considering editing out the entire performance to avoid causing uproar amongst fans. Soaps.com will post more details as they become available.
