"Glee" to address recent surge of gay teen suicides.
Though normally known for its upbeat and light-hearted nature, Glee will get serious when it tackles the issue of homophobic bullying amongst teenagers.
Soaps.com has learned that "Glee," which features a gay character, is planning a special episode that spotlights teenagers struggling with their sexuality. This decision was sparked by the recent surge of gay teen suicides linked to homophobic bullying.
Despite last week's religious-themed episode that had fans complaining the show has gotten too serious, "Glee" stars have already expressed their support for the upcoming gay awareness episode. Heather Morris, who plays airhead cheerleader Brittany Pierece, told E! Online, "I just found out about the episode and I think it's amazing."
In addition, Chris Colfer (Kurt Hummel) has taped a public service announcement on behalf of Dan Savage's "It Gets Better" project. Check out Chris's message to gay teens by watching the video below.
