    GH Recap: Carlypalooza.

    Tuesday, April 01 2014
Sonny and Carly flashback to their ups and downs over the years with three of the actresses who played Carly making special appearances, and AJ is guided into the light.

Over the loud speaker male and female voices page Dr. Steve Hardy and Dr. Alan Quartermaine as the camera pans across their old photos into an empty General Hospital. Monica walks in from the elevator and talks to herself about emotional detachment. The death of a loved one hasn't gotten any easier. She goes to AJ and holds his lifeless body. Nearby, Carly (Laura Wright) tells Sonny AJ said he shot him. Is he going to deny it? Sonny says AJ's drunk six ways from Sunday. Carly believes AJ because Sonny's not denying it. Meanwhile, Monica says goodbye to AJ as Emily's ghost appears. Monica mourns the death of her husband, Jason, Dawn and Emily and she wants to be with them. Emily says she always is. Monica argues that she has no fight left but Emily yells that she's as strong as they come. Monica just wishes AJ was at peace. AJ's ghost appears and tells her he is. She gave him a second chance at life. She protected him and he'll be forever grateful. They hug. She wants to go with them but they refuse to let her. Her grandkids need her. She doesn't want to let Tracy have the whole house to herself does she? Monica finally agrees to tough it out but asks AJ to tell her who shot him. He says it's complicated but when the truth comes out, she'll be proud. She already is. They say goodbye and the ghosts meet their father and grandparents before following the light. Sonny drags Carly somewhere private and confesses he shot AJ. He asks if she's forgotten AJ killed their unborn child. He flashes back to Carly falling down the stairs and being in the hospital. When he comes back to reality, he sees Sarah Brown's version of Carly beside him. Carly remembers everything. With tears in her eyes, she says it's one of the worst things that have ever happened to her. They flashback to their wedding and Sonny's "death." She says, "When your heart stopped, my heart stopped." He came back for her! They reminisce about Carly setting him up when Tamara Braun played Carly. They flashback to their divorce and agree it wasn't the end for them. They remember when they learned Michael had "died." She's still standing after a nervous breakdown. Laura Wright's version of Carly returns and she says Sonny gave her the courage to get better. She'll always have his back even if their love story is over. In tears, Sonny asks her to keep the murder quiet. Carly needs time to think.

At the Floating Rib, Felicia can't believe in 51 years they have never shut down the Port Charles bridge until now. She blames the mayor. Mac tells her she should run for mayor. She has Kevin's vote. Lucy flashes to Scott telling her to choose him or Kevin. Talk turns to the Nurses' Ball. Kevin promises to help. Mac's dusting off Mr. Marbles and creating a new act. Do they want to hear this? They say 'no' in stereo. The guys go off to get drinks and Lucy admits Scott gave her an ultimatum but she loves both men! The men return and Lucy can't breathe. She dashes off.

Bobbie heads into Kelly's to see Scott. She bawls. "Everything has gone to pot." She and Noah just broke up over the phone. He fell for someone else and has been cheating with his old flame, Audrey Hardy's niece, Nurse Annie Logan. "The virgin?" Scott asks. "Hah. Not so virginal anymore," Bobbie snipes. She wishes Anne would keep her hands off her boyfriend. Scott defends the "homewrecker" and confesses he too is one. He tries to take it back but Bobbie guesses he's been with Lucy. He tells her it's not a fling. They agree it's got to stop. He gave Lucy an ultimatum but hasn't heard back yet. Just then, Lucy bustles in and drags Scott outside. Nervously, she says she made a decision. She's staying with Kevin. Scott's heartbroken. He can't just be friends. She cries and he kisses her goodbye.

Lucy heads back to the Floating Rib feeling much better. She tells Kevin she's where she belongs.

Did everyone get to watch? Seeing all of the Carly's was great! I wasn't sure how it was going to work.

Here's a special trivia tribute to the 51st year on the air!

Loved this episode of General Hospital. Chrissi, it was nice watching all the old Carly's. It was also nice to see that A.J was heading up into the light. And not, well you know, not heading down.

The ending made me tear up a little. With Lila, Edward and Alan all waiting to escort AJ up.

Carly needs to do the right thing and turn Sonny in

Oh, almost forgot. Seeing those old clips of Sonny was nice too. He is one cute booga.

Regarding Monica's reaction to A.J.'s untimely death, I think she was spot-on today. The feeling of desolation that one feels when one has to bury a child is something that can't be easily pushed aside. Sometimes the depression that follows can lead one to finding ways to work through the grief, hopefully without taking it to the point of giving up. Monica sounds like she is ready to give up, and I can only hope that Tracy gives her the strength and the reason to go on. Liesl should be removed toute suite from COS, and Monica should be reinstated, giving her the job she loves with which to throw herself into, allowing her to focus on the living who will need her skills to survive. In time, she will look back on the memories of those she lost, and take comfort in the fact that she was once a big part of their lives. She nailed the feelings that those of us who sadly have walked in those shoes can understand. We carry those we loved and lost with us always. That is my comfort, that and knowing that one day I will be with them again. Hopefully, we will watch Monica as she works through the grief. which could be very strong lesson for all of us. Seeing A.J.'s spirit signals that there will not be a risen from the dead S/L....or does it???

Sonny of the past...good God, he had the face of an angel!!! Those dimples!!!! I liked the manner in which the other Carly's were woven into today's episode. Too bad the writers couldn't be as creative with A.J.'s second chance S/L. A.J.'s lines today brought me to tears. Poor guy. So, Michael and Danny will be the new Quartermaines...this is how the writers will keep the family alive. Hmmm. What will make Michael become a Quartermaine finally?? The truth about Sonny???

Frankly, Bobbie should never be made to cry again, I am a firm believer in aging gracefully, without the aid of a knife, implants or collagen injections. Her face just doesn't move naturally any more. How sad. I am willing to bet that she would still be a good-looking woman today without having done what she did to her face.

Some Happy 51st Anniversary, saying good-bye to A.J. just took the wind out of my sails.

Lovedthosedimples, I agree. Watching Bobbie try to cry was awful.

My eyes, my eyes… Bobbie, please don’t cry…your facial expressions are horrible to watch!!!

Do ghosts change clothes? Shouldn’t they be dressed in all white??…lol..

Ummm Emily didn’t know AJ had died.. WTH?

Sonny, why do you always want to go a chapel when you want to justify the wrong you’ve done? Now, we go down memory lane to understand how you and Carly understand each other so well. Laying all that charm on Carly don’t mean jack squat…. You were wrong blaming AJ then and keeping Michael away…’re still wrong now. All you had to do Sonny was take a minute and listen to AJ before you pulled the trigger. You and Carly make me sick…now you want her to keep quiet…ugh

Well that was odd having the old Carly back for those scenes.

I too was wondering if AJ would head up or down. The touch with Lila, Edward and Alan omgosh was so touching. I too teared up. This is a must see episode.

Loved the old Sonny clips and the Carlys were amazing to see. Those women can act. All three! And Monica - oh my heart. That was so heartbreaking.

Aw poor Bobbie. She's so lovely - such a lovely person in real life. I wish women knew that surgery doesn't make them beautiful. It's what's inside. Our society is screwed up. Loved seeing her return but sad that she and Noah broke up.

Well back to work for me. Hope everyone enjoyed the recap. I was subbing for Hollie and Matt today. It was a fun recap. Different from writing Days recaps!

Great show today. I loved seeing the flashbacks and the 3 Carlys. It was kind of sad to see that AJ was really dead. I have a feeling when Michael finds out the truth he's going to become a true Quartermaine.

I too got teary at the end

I forgot Amy Vining. I loved her on the show. Anyone remember what happened to her?

Posted by cowboys fan at Tuesday, April 01 2014 12:37 PM

    Amy died in real life.

Love thosedimples- agree that Jackie Zemen has jumped the shark in the cosmetic surgery department. Sad as she is a beautiful woman who now doesn't look younger, but desperate. Donna Mills has obviously had a face lift as her mouth is just this side of being too wide ala the Joker, but not over the top. She is a good example of doing it right.
