Now THAT'S what I call a 100% genuine, all-beef (no filler) top shelf, classic General Hospital episode with an honest-to-goodness Friday cliffhanger for dessert! VERY satisfying. Accept no substitutes! If there is an A-Team of writers on this staff, this was some of their best work.

First, let me shock everyone by saying YAY ROBIN! I was so proud of her when she flattered Frau Blücher into turning her back on her, and then whacked her over the head with that flask. It didn't really look like a blow that would've knocked anyone out cold, especially considering the Frau's hair helmet, but why quibble? I made fun of Robin for not taking any action, and I said it would be cool if she rescued herself for a change, and maybe even saved Luke in the process, so now I have to give Robin her props for coming through in the bottom of the ninth with a clutch base hit. It's about time she lived up to her own DNA, and made a break for it. Good for her.

It's funny, but my posts about how Robin should channel her inner superspy, and my parody about Robin's reaction to the Nurses' Ball DVD came fairly close to the mark, especially the part about Jerry using Luke as a guinea pig. I just didn't anticipate that it would be Dr. O's getting Robin up to speed on all the PC gossip instead of Jerry, and I'm very disappointed that no one mentioned Rick Springfield and his terrible lip-synching. It was good that Frau Blücher reminded Robin that her life is still in danger, just to keep that scene from looking like your usual gossip session between co-workers. Dr. O did seem to be enjoying their little chat though, and she does have a way with words, which is why she gets the LINE OF THE DAY for her colorful description of Sabrina.

Frau Blücher: “Patrick has indeed replaced you with that petite, pink, dust mop!”

OUCH! I think that's a reference to Sabrina's hair. And people think I'M harsh?

I will say that Robin would be NUTS to try to escape with baby Ben. He's in no danger from anyone right now, but he would be caught in the crossfire if she dragged him along. Her best course of action would be to escape and call the cavalry, but hopefully on her way out she'll find Luke, cure him instantly, and then contact Anna.

    Speaking of reinforcements...

YAY ROBERT! It's so good to see him awake again, and looking so hale and hearty. He makes Luke look even more sickly. At first, I was wondering why Robert was so chipper knowing that Robin was alive, and he had lost a year in a coma, but then we learned he was suffering from the dreaded Brain Cramps! His struggle to fill in the blanks reminded me of a bear waking up from a long hibernation. Like that constipated bear, Robert's brain has got to get past that first big blockage before his memory begins to flow normally, but it can be painful, and it's something you shouldn't try to force. I KNEW as soon as he relaxed, closed his eyes, and quit trying so hard to remember, that it would all open up, so to speak. Sorry for the imagery. I promise I'm not really equating Robert's memory of Robin with what a bear does in the woods.

Even the usually tedious subplot involving Alexis' search for Julian Jerome took an interesting turn with the mention of Lucas, but I think he'll probably remain off screen at least for now. What's the point in having him come back to reunite with his un-dead father if he's only going to be reminded that his dear old sperm donor is still just another murdering thug? Right now, Lucas is only a means to an end to confirm that Sam is indeed a Jerome, and he'll probably submit his DNA long distance, but when the results show that he does indeed have a sister and a new nephew in PC that he never knew about before, he might come back for a visit to meet them. I think both he and Bobbie are living in Seattle, along with Noah Drake, right? Not all together though, I'm sure.

When Alexis revealed her concern over the possibility that she may have conceived yet another child with a mobster, Duke summed up the basis for almost every ongoing storyline on GH.

Duke: “That WOULD be quite a coincidence, wouldn't it?”

Brother, you don't know the half of it yet! This is all so “coincidental” it's harder to swallow than a polonium pancake!

I like Sam and Drake Jr.'s deepening friendship, and even though they are incredibly striking together, right now friendship is ALL that I see between them. It's too bad our awareness that Robin wasn't dead all this time made it so hard for us to invest in any other potential relationship involving Patrick. Even before Britt and Sabrina came on the scene, I would've liked to have seen what would've happened if Patrick and Sam had grown closer as friends sharing their mutual grief, which could've led to something deeper way back when. There seems to be some genuine affection between Sam and Patrick, and they appear to have much more chemistry than anything I've seen so far between Sam and Slimas. They just keep forcing those two together, even though there's obviously something missing there. I wonder if the two actors simply don't get along that well in real life? Perhaps they had a brief fling, and it didn't work out.

You can usually tell the difference. Just look at Anna and Duke, Anna and Robert, Anna and Luke, Luke and Robert, and Robert and Mac. It's obvious they all not only enjoy working together, but also just being in each other's company.

I don't get ANY of that when I'm watching Moron, Ava, Kinky, and Michael, and the last two are supposed to be a real life couple! If that doesn't come across the screen except during their sex scenes, it's no wonder this pairing hasn't been embraced by the viewing audience. And what's going to happen if or when they break up in real life? How bad will it get then?

Speaking about Moron, Ava, Kinky, and Michael...

Their storyline feels like something from a completely different show than the wonderfully exciting one I watched today called General Hospital. I almost feel like I should mark any comments about them as “off topic.”

I really like the chemistry going on between Patrick and Sam right now. This could be the beginning of a beautiful friendship, but Patrick can't throw around requests like "Get rid of Carlos Rivera". What if Sam took him seriously and set herself up on a roof somewhere with her best long range rifle? In any case, I'm feeling a little hopeful that neither of them will be taking off their rings soon as my instinct tells me that Jason might be coming home for Christmas - not a spoiler, I just got that feeling when I heard the line "There's hope for both of us".

Great show today, with the exception of the Carrrrrlouse/Sabrina scenes. I'm thinking that Sabrina's exit, again not a spoiler, is going to be a misplaced bullet meant for either Alexis or Duke.

lovesdogs - If you're a Robert fan, then you have to watch this episode. The show has been so awful for so long today was a great surprise.

    pemi - Thanks.

I was hoping the guard would turn out to be Ethan, but Tracy works just as well. This should be a hoot. Luke & Spanky against the evil forces.

pemi you are not wrong. Carlos does lose his Latino accent frequently, except when he is sweet talking Sabrina. I have commented that he must have left Peurto Rico when he was a baby.

I disagree with the posters who don't like Carlos and think he should cut his hair and trim his beard. Leave him as he is. I will take him over white bread Patrick any day. When Robin returns he will be there to console Sabrina.

Dr. O was right on the nail today describing the way Sabrina set her cap at Patrick. She absolutely got it right! She seems to have the same low opinion of the conniving Sabrina as I held for 30 years about Lady Diana Spencer.

Lily-- Did you create a confectionery masterpiece for the SO?

Scrimmage - I so agree with all of your comments. I swear I didn't read your post before I wrote mine. I was hoping that Robin would smash Frau Blucher's head into the microscope, but then I love having her around as a great villianess. She's the Catwoman of PC.

Actually I didn't because he's diabetic, but I called ahead to the restaurant we're going to tonight to order a sugar-free birthday cake. I did leave birthday greetings around the house this morning. My favorite is an 11x17 Happy Birthday Card that plays the chicken dance (a Wisconsin thing).

Lily-- I bet he got a kick out of the chicken dance card.
