*************OFF TOPIC-WAIT MAYBE IT IS ON TOPIC************

The GH posters are running as fast as they can to join the FRIENDS OF SCRIMMAGE CLUB....In fact it is turning into a landslide. With this many members the dues should be reasonable.
Once TPTB at GH see SCRIMMAGE'S popularity and his writing ability comes to their attention I am sure he (SCRIMMAGE) will return to the thrilling days of GH with "steamy" love scenes - many showers - none of which will include Brad I'm sure.

I can't believe I am saying this but It was a relief to see Heather....I wouldn't have said that months ago...BUT it is better than what we have been seeing lately.

from - As bad as the show has been, I wouldn't mind seeing Steven Lars giving his fellow inmates guitar lessons. LOL

I wonder if the "Georgie" we saw today is dead Georgie or a grown version of Maxi's baby?

Olivia to Sonny, you didn't beat up Franco, but had someone else do it. Yes Olivia Sonny always has someone else do his dirty work. Sorry Rans

Heather's reference to Osso buco - a veal dish meaning bone with a hole, bone marrow is in the hole. Its supposed to be very good, can't say never tried it.

Lily-- My vote would be for Dante to be the one to walk in on his parents. Can you imagine the look on his face? For a detective he doesn't seem to have a clue. And can you even imagine the seating arrangement at the Thanksgiving table? But I bet the pasta would be excellent.

lily hunter....Good thinking. Steven Lars giving guitar lessons which must mean you obviously think the show needs some comic relief too.....

bayou - Perhaps Dante would be so horrified (first because his dad is better in bed, and second because his mother is better in bed than his wife LOL) the DID would kick in and he would revert back to Dominic.

I was never very impressed by James Franco's version of the character of Franco. He was barely on the show, and I looked at his appearance on GH as simply stunt casting timed to coincide with the release of his movie, the remake of “Planet of the Apes.” While I found his performance interesting, his character was never fleshed out in the short time he was actually on the show, where he was portrayed as just another crazy person. Usually, his limited availability made it necessary to shoot all of his scenes at once, which meant he seldom, if ever, interacted with other members of the cast. When he did, it was very compelling, like his seduction of Maxie, his encounter with Carly at the Christmas tree lot, and the time he invited Jason over for beer and snacks, but that was the exception to the rule. After the first go-round, the plot surrounding him became even more convoluted, while Franco became even more disconnected from the cast (and the show) by communicating mostly through videos and DVD's. He only was around in time to pull a naked and drugged Sam out of the shower and pretend to have sex with her – and who could blame JF for showing up for THAT scene – and then again, months later, just long enough for Jason to supposedly shoot him dead.

Franco's tenure on the show spanned a couple of years, but his total time on the air could be measured in mere days. At the time he was “killed,” his obsession with Jason, and his motives for stalking Jason and his loved ones was still as vague as the day he first showed up in Port Charles. That should've been the end of it, but no such luck.

It was only after his “death,” when Sam and Jason found a DVD someone mysteriously left on their snow covered balcony, that Franco's backstory started to be fleshed out. The DVD seemingly showed a picture of a “baby boy Morton” that Jason assumed was him, but it eventually led to the (in my opinion) absurd revelation that Franco was Jason's twin brother, despite their obvious eight year age difference. While that supposedly explained why Franco was so fixated on Jason, it also wasted a potentially interesting character, a Quartermaine, and more importantly, Jason's twin brother on a dead man, and more importantly, an unavailable actor.

When Steve Burton's departure was certain, and after they were forced to recast the OLTL Three as new characters, TPTB decided to rectify their previous mistake and (un)kill two birds with one stone by not only resurrecting the character of Franco to become an essential part of the revitalization of the Quartermaines, but also by casting the extremely likeable former Todd, Roger Howarth, as the new and improved Robert “Franco” Quartermaine.

All they had to do was to figure out a way to make sure all the evil things that Franco had done in the past were not held against him this time around, and what better way than to tell everyone that it was all a big misunderstanding, and now that Jason's gone, he's no longer crazy, and he's very, very sorry for everything he did. Next, they had to make him sympathetic, so they have Sonny beat him to a pulp, and finally he'll need to appear selfless and heroic so they arranged for poor, put upon Danny to get terribly sick so that this completely different character called Franco can save his nephew's life with a risky bone marrow transplant.

TPTB are investing so much air time and energy in redeeming a character that was originally conceived by the fired head of a previous regime as the embodiment of madness and evil, that they must be desperate to make it work, which would be defined as RH's version of Franco – Frodd – catching on with the audience, and becoming a wildly popular character, even more than Todd was at the height of his run on OLTL. They are hoping that he will eventually be as big of a star on this show as Jason was, and they are going to do everything in their power to make that happen, whether we like it or not. The question is, will it work? Right now, it's not looking too good, but in a year, after the dust settles, who knows?

Scrimmage - Are you using the term "as the dust settles" as code for when this regime(OLTL) is replaced?
