I must agree with Rans, this is major news story that many people are interested in, the loss of life and the life changing injuries have been devastating. We were going to go down the street for dinner with neighbors, but when my husband came in, we started watching the news coverage and opted for take-out. My prayers are with the city and the people of Boston.

I also want to add that I also see Akita, Scrimmage and others view on the continual repeat of the same information, but I think when they go live, covering an ongoing story like this, there is only so much info that the reporters possess, their producers are scurrying for additional angles, i.e., friends, family, grade school teacher until the fruition of the reported story. I think ABC, NBC, and CBS should leave the continual 24/7 coverage to the cable news channels, such as CNN.

Hi Mama- we are fine, sinkhole was in another part of the city. I was sorry to read that been had flooding in her basement, I feel fortunate not to have that type of mess to clean up. Hope you and JJ are enjoying your new home. I also hope the job is going well, and you’re adjusting to all the changes. We miss having you during the daily nighttime chats, glad to see you Friday night off. Hope you have a nice weekend.

    Breaking News- They got him!

Just caught the Prez, what a wonderful speech! He echoed so many thoughts brought up on this board. He also mentioned the tragedy in Texas. I pray for all tonight who have suffered a loss.

I just love the sight of ordinary citizens coming out of their houses and lining the street to cheer, applaud, and to thank the police, fire dept., etc., with a spontaneous and heartfelt “parade” as they leave the crime scene. That's just so American.

Those exhausted public servants whose heroic efforts have put their citizens minds at rest, and given their hearts some hope, should sleep well tonight, and take pride in the brilliant and professional way they resolved this matter so quickly. We should all be very proud and grateful to them as well.

As an aside, just how tall is Boston Police Commissioner Ed Davis? He towers over everyone around him, and looks to me to be at least 6' 6”. What an imposing figure, and he's quite an impressive guy! Needless to say with THIS on his resume, he'll be able to write his own ticket. He'll probably retire, write a book, and make a fortune on the movie rights, and good for him if he does! He's the one that would've been left holding the bag if those two punks got away, but the good guys won in the end, and who doesn't love a happy ending?
