Like many of you, I'm not, and have never been a big Scotty Baldwin fan. He's never been a particularly likable character, and his portrayer, Kin Shriner, is a very limited actor who relies more on schtick (I'm putting the over / under on him referring to "Sing-Sing" at three days, and I'm taking the under) and being quirky than having any inner dialog that good actors use to give their characters depth and motivation. Out of all the vets that have returned, he is the one I could most do without, however, he does serve a purpose, in a very soapy way.

I have no idea if the plan is to have Luke and Laura reunite eventually, but in either case, they can't make it too easy. Luke and Laura's whole relationship has been built on their ability to overcome any obstacle placed in their path, even the ones they put there themselves. Scotty's presence just serves as a means to get Luke's competitive juices flowing. If Laura had come back alone, wanting to rekindle her relationship with Luke, she might've scared him off.

Frankly, I prefer Luke unattached, but I always enjoy seeing him team up with Laura, whether they're married or not. Together, they equal much more than the sum of their parts, and they can seeming accomplish almost anything. They are the perfect compliments to one another, even if they're not a couple. Like everybody else, I think they're made for each other, and should be together, but after all this time, I'm in no hurry. I'm content to see how all this plays out over the long run, since I believe Genie's return is somewhat open ended, but I hope she kicks Scotty to the curb (again) sooner than later.

For those of you still hung up on “the chicken or the egg” question regarding Connie and Kate, perhaps it would simplify things if you look at Connie and Kate as each other's alters. Neither one of them is emotionally complete or particularly well adjusted, but they are both equally valid fragments of Connie's original identity. I think this current reversion is intended to get Connie off the hook for kidnapping Johnny, running over Ellie, and indirectly causing the death of her son. Perhaps the next step will be some kind of permanent integration of the two personalities, and we can finally put the DID storyline to rest. If that happens, I sure hope we don't lose Connie's trademark Bensonhurst brashness and straight talking, “kiss my ass” attitude. It's a tribute to Kelly Sullivan's enormous talent as an actress and her attention to detail that it's so easy to distinguish between Connie and Kate, even to the point of being able to recognize Connie from her voice mail greeting. That was pretty funny.

I'm sure there are many viewers who prefer the Sonny worshiping Kate over the spitfire Connie, and I suppose it's a matter of personal preference, but I for one, sure hope Connie comes back soon. I mean, the first thing Kate does is get all uptight about Sonny having sex with her while she was checked out, and runs off crying to her cousin Oblivia. When Connie gets upset, she just kicks somebody's ass, which is one of the reasons why she's the more interesting of the two.

Ha anyone else figured out that General Hospital is reuniting ALL the "super couples"? To what end?? I'm afraid of the answer.....
    Luke and Laura...
    Sonny and Kate...
    Caleb and Livvie...
    Eventually Patrick and Robin...
Eventually Jax and Carly (when he comes back)...
Probably Liz and Lucky (the signs are there that he will return)...
    Probably Maxie and Spinelli...
    Lulu and Dante...
    Frisco and Felicia...
    Anna and Duke...
Everyone back together with their ONE TRUE LOVE (which keeps being mentioned that way!)
Is this for the 50th anniversary....or for an exit show that wraps up all the relationships and makes all the fans happy? I wonder. I hope I'm wrong, and that it's for the 50th.

    Tough Connie is the alter.
Kate/Olivia/and Ewen have all said that was the case.
Young Connie made up Kate but she knew who she really was.
She knew she was Young Connie, with a new beginning.
When Kate was living as a fashion magazine editor, she KNEW who she really was and was hiding it, giving herself a fresh start.
Think of her conversations with Olivia during her first marriage attempt to Sonny.

TPTB made it more confusing by giving the alter the same name as Young Connie but, Olivia and Kate herself have made mention that wild Connie is the alter.

Sonny will be forgiven, he always is and neither Kate nor Connie can resist him. He's got "it".!

DEX: It's been awhile girl, come out!

    Stay safe all.....

@beenaroundalongtime, I was thinking the same thing about Scotty, helloooo, you killed her father and many other things. I am hoping it's a set up for Luke to take her away from him once again!! And I'm still hoping for a Rick and Lesley reunion. Hey, everyone has come from the dead!

I love Danny as much as anybody, but I just can't believe when the decision was made to have Sam finally become a mother, that they planned on her being (yet another) single “working” parent, and as a result, her character has been reduced to being a victim who is only defined by the men in her life, whether it's Jason, McBat, Caleb, or Danny. Compare that to Connie, who not only runs a newspaper, but is also Carly's not-so-silent partner in the MetroCourt, and has other business interests to deal with that have nothing to do with her weird relationship with Sonny.

Even better, look at Anna, who like Sam is an action oriented character, but who has always had a clear purpose in life in addition to being a mother to Robin. When we see Anna, she's usually pursuing her own interests, whether it's investigating a crime in her capacity as Police Commissioner, or working on her relationships with her family, Patrick and Emma, or her suitors Luke and Duke.

On the other hand, Sam's got nothing to do except to react to whatever crisis befalls her, her family, and lately McBat, who she seems to just hang around with, looking for something to occupy her time, as if single parenthood didn't fill up her day. There's nothing wrong with any of that, but I have to wonder what does Sam does when she's NOT the object of some villain's sick obsession, or when Danny HASN'T been kidnapped by some psycho? What does she WANT to do with the rest of her life?

That's why I think she's got to give up the PI business and buy a boat. She sucks at being a detective anyway. All she ever seems to do is take cases involving cheating spouses and get caught breaking into Todd's safe. It's boring, yet at the same time it's too dangerous for her to risk leaving Danny an orphan. Salvage diving and treasure hunting are much more interesting occupations anyway, and it would open up a whole new realm of possible storylines for Sam. Sure there would still be some element of risk involved, but not as much shooting, and Sam is supposed to be “Adventure Girl” anyway. Heck, she could even take Danny on the boat with her most of the time, so it would work out for everybody.

I just think Kelly Monaco is a talented but underused actress, and I don't want her to end up just being an appendage of McBat's, or the hot chick who always has to get rescued on the show when she could be so much more.
