    All OT:

While flipping channels last night we saw that TCM (Turner Classic Movie, our favorite channel) showed a couple movies (1964 The Naked Kiss and 1963 Shock Corridor) starring none other than Constant Towers (Helena Cassadine). I have to say she’s still one stunning and strikingly beautiful woman.

Mamajji, so sorry to hear about your difficulties. Wish there was something I could do to help you out, but I’ll continue to keep you in my thoughts and prayers that things will get better soon.

Hi Poodles, your pound cake recipe sounds wonderfully tasty. Wish I could have a slice. Hope you enjoyed Friday the 13th. You’re a lot braver than I am watching scary movies.

Cbru, your cheesecake recipe also sounds wonderful, but I’ve never been able to eat cheesecake, being lactose intolerant and all.

Hi Lily, Glad you’re enjoying your Saturday. We’ve been doing the same thing especially due to the threat of thunderstorms. I actually thought about you today since there is the potential for thunderstorms in the area. We had some rain over night, but not as much as I would have liked while some of the other areas got plenty, but it was enough that I didn’t have to water the garden today. We went out briefly to run some errands and passed some roads that was barely passable with standing water and the traffic crossing Chesapeake Bay Bridge was pretty bad from the heavy rains over night. We’ve been hearing thunder in the distance, but other than some heavy burst of rain showers lasting a few minutes every now and then nothing significant. Hope it stays that way. Jylli is doing well (thanks for asking), no seizures since the last one and that’s because he hasn’t be outdoors other than to relieve himself.

    OT – Recipe:

I’ve been meaning to post this recipe for sometime now, but only now getting around to it. It is quite good. (one thing that I would suggest is that since zucchini has so much water, once you’ve grate it, let sit for at least an hour to drain off the water)

    Green Chile and Zucchini Quiche

4 tablespoons (1/2 stick) unsalted butter, melted

24 whole grain wheat crackers (Triscuits) ground in a food processor (about 1 cup) or 1 cup dried breadcrumbs or homemade

1 medium zucchini (about 6 ounces)

    Kosher salt
1 tablespoon
    vegetable oil

1 small onion, chopped (about 1/2 cup)

    1/4 cup unbleached all-purpose flour

    1/2 teaspoon baking powder

    3 large eggs

8 ounces Monterey jack cheese, coarsely grated (about 2 cups)

    8 ounces whole-milk cottage cheese (1 cup)

One 4 1/2-ounce can chopped green chiles, drained
    Served with
bottled salsa or homemade, optional

Preheat the oven to 375 degrees F.

Stir 2 tablespoons of the melted butter into the cracker crumbs. Press the crumb mixture into the bottom and 1-inch up the sides of a 9-inch glass pie plate. Bake the crust in the center of the preheated oven until it begins to brown, about 7 minutes. Remove the crust from the oven and reduce the oven temperature to 350 degrees F.

Meanwhile, grate the zucchini, preferably using the grating disk of a food processor. Toss the zucchini with 1/2 teaspoon salt and let drain in a colander for 10 minutes. Heat the oil in a medium skillet over high heat until hot. Reduce the heat to medium; add the onion and cook, stirring occasionally, until softened, about 5 minutes. Squeeze the zucchini well with your hands to remove excess moisture. Add the zucchini to the onion and cook over high heat for 3 minutes.

Combine the flour, baking powder, and 1/4 teaspoon salt in a small bowl. In a large bowl with an electric mixer, beat the eggs until thick and fluffy, about 3 minutes. Add the Monterey Jack and cottage cheeses, the flour mixture, and remaining 2 tablespoons melted butter to the eggs and beat well. Stir in the zucchini mixture and chiles and pour the mixture into the crust. Bake the quiche in the center of the oven until the top is puffed and golden brown and a cake tester inserted in the center comes out clean, 35 to 40 minutes. Set aside at room temperature 5 minutes, cut into wedges, and serve with salsa, if desired.

TerryLee 45 As far I know if an actor is on contract they are guaranteed payment for a certain number of episodes - and would get paid even if they were not onscreen for the required amount of epis. Depending on the actor, I would think the guarantees are different for each person. I would also think that if they appear for more than the negotiated amount they get paid (maybe extra?) for that. I know that when Dom appeared in almost every episode for months on end at one point.

4my - The SO decided that he was going to go to his favorite sporting goods store early this afternoon and got caught in the traffic jam resulting from the presidential motorcade to his venue in historic Glen Allen. He said even the interstate was a mess when he decided to turn around and come home.
I'm so glad to hear that Jylli is doing better. Baba developed a sinus thing because he kept lying so near to the AC vents, but he's much better now too.
Have a great week. I can't wait to try the recipe. I love the zukes.

    OT...

    Maja...

I have TVLAND on right now and just heard that they are having mini Andy Griffith marathons every weekend for the rest of this month.

Just a thought to pass on to your sister if you like.

I have a couple of questions. Where are Max & Felicia? Did they ever officially hook up or are they still just thinking about it. Is Luke’s chair bolted to the floor (something that would almost be impossible for heather to do) Why not just hop on out of shed and woods. We all know a Hotel is within walking distance.

Also, has Heather had any physiatrist appointments other than that brief one with Even? I would think she would be schedule weekly as a condition for her release. I think her Bozo son must be in cahoots with her as I can’t believe he could be that stupid.

Hi 4my. The Quiche recipe sounds fabulous. I wish I had all the ingredients on hand as I would make it tomorrow. I will definitely make it early next week. Thanks for sharing. I'm happy to hear Jylli is doing well.

Tipsy- I’m sure the pound cake had lots of calories and fat. When I was running this morning and felt like stopping, I thought back to not one but two pieces I had yesterday and used it as motivation to finish my miles. I wish there was a less fattening version of this cake----I might just eat it every day. I hope you’re having a nice weekend.

Lily- your Saturday sounds wonderful. It’s nice to have an excuse to stay in and just relax. We had company for a large part of the day. I think this was the last wave of friends who want to see Tula Rose. It’s not that I don’t enjoy there company and well wishes, I do. It’s just hard with her sleeping and feeding every two to three hours, I’m exhausted if I don’t get a nap.

Hi redcanuk. are you counting down the days to LA?

queensgirl- ITA, they are dumbing down Luke. He has escaped much worse and more secure prisons than this backyard shed. Let's hope he gets out this week.
