    OFF TOPIC

bayoubtr, I agree that cable and satellite companies are getting too expensive (after the initial teaser rate), and I also found the better content moving up to the premium channels, leaving those with basic or middle tier programming with cheap reality, talk, shows and endless advertising, home shopping and infomercials, not to mention TV evangelists trading salvation for money. Even free Starz which Dish Network gave me for a year had slipped badly showing dreary old movies.

Do what I did, get rid of it. With digital TV there is now a huge choice of programming. The major networks and PBS have subchannels which show vintage programming which you can safely let your children watch. No foul language and no graphic sex! Here in central Florida we have a number of Spanish language channels and an international channel which shows newscasts, mystery series, and movies from other countries, with English subtitling. Best of all, it is free! With the money I saved over a few months I just replaced my bulky old projection TV with a new 50" flat screen, which brings me to what Scrimmage pointed out:

The online shopping networks are not the only ones tracking your browsing and purchasing habits. Buy a book or movie from Amazon, or just about anything online from any major company, and you will be bombarded with email for similar products. They are tracking everything you browse. Even worse, since I bought the TV on line (because of free delivery to my home) the next day I had a call from someone with an oriental accent asking me for my payment details and confirmation of my bank account number before they can deliver it, which they definitely did not need, and indicates that the very large well known company I ordered from is being hacked. Needless to say I hung up on the caller.

    It's a jungle out there.

    ***off topic***

Cynic – Those targeted ads are showing up on your computer because the websites we click on leave behind “cookies” that trigger those ads. In addition to good anti-virus and anti-malware programs that everybody should have, use, and keep updated routinely, you should also go to “tools” then “Internet options” on your browser and hit the button that says “delete all temporary internet files” on a regular basis. It won't stop ALL the ads, but it will cut down on the number of them. You also can download a free program at CNET.com called CCleaner, which does a great job of clearing out all that trash and freeing up computer memory as well. I run it every week.

Congrats to Both StraightTalker & Tassa_kay on being quoted in the weekly blog soaps.sheknows.com/generalhospital/news/id/26067/General_Hospital_Weekly_Blog/
I am really hoping that Trey is not Connie's kid- cause I think when Connie/Kate finds out what a jerk he is- she will really regret not taking him- or putting him in an orphanage.

    OT
Happy Father's Day to the Dad's, Uncles and Granddad's out there. I hope that you all had a good day, and to the mom's out there doing both jobs. Happy Father's Day to you too.

@Poodles - it sounds like Dr Poodles had a great day surrounded by all of his favorite Ladies in the World

@ Pumpkingirl. I know its hard when you loose your dad, and like RedCanuck said it does get easier, but its a hard go. This was the 7th Father's Day without my dad, and he will be gone 8 years on Friday (He passed away 2 days after Father's Day). But I am finding this another raw week.
