Tracy's birthday isn't what she expected, Olivia meets Heather and Michael learns about Carly's new man.
At Ewen's office, Kate declares they have to stop Connie and make her go away. Ewen says if they don't integrate her two personalities Connie may take over for good. Kate doesn't understand how that could happen. Ewen explains that she's coming out more frequently and staying for longer periods. Ewen suggests Kate admit herself into a mental hospital. Kate tells him what he's suggesting is impossible and leaves to meet Sonny. Ewen calls someone and tells them he's afraid he'll have to commit his patient against her will.
Johnny and Carly run into Sonny at the Metro Court restaurant. The men exchange accusations regarding Starr's accident. Sonny walks away and Carly assures Johnny she knows he's innocent, but she wants to believe Sonny is too. They talk about Michael.
Michael overhears Starr venting to her mother on the phone about her need for revenge against Sonny. Michael defends his father as he gets a call from Carly. She asks him to meet her so they can talk. After he hangs up, he invites Starr to dinner with his mother. She passes, assuring him she can take care of herself.
Michael shows up at the Metro Court, but finds Sonny first. Sonny asks his son to tell the truth as he remembers it when he takes the stand at his trial. Michael declares he knows Sonny didn't cause the accident. Sonny is touched that his son, more than anyone, believes in him. Sonny asks if he has talked to Starr. Michaels vows he's stayed away. Carly calls to her son from another table she's sitting at with Johnny. Michael walks over and learns they are together. He grows furious and leaves. Kate enters to meet Sonny.
Tracy excitedly walks downstairs to the main room in the Q mansion hoping someone has remembered her birthday. Alas, Monica doesn't care and Alice tells her cook has the day off so no cake for her. She can't believe no one remembered her birthday, not even her kids or father. Alice returns and says, "Someone did," as Luke appears with a flower box. She is touched he remembered, but her smile fades when she opens the box to find a riding crop. Anthony then shows up with a bunch of bags. He went shopping on her credit card to celebrate his release from jail. Starr shows up looking for Anthony. They talk privately and he reiterates Sonny was the one who shot out his tires. He saw him do it. Meanwhile, Luke tries to explain to Tracy his gift was from the heart because he tracked down what happened to her childhood horse Skittles that was given away and got her the horses' son, which is out back. Tracy can't believe he got her a pony for her birthday.
Olivia stops by Steve's place, but finds Heather instead. Heather slams the door in Olivia's face, as Steve exits the shower. Steve calls his mother off and she makes tea for all of them. Steve takes a call in the other room, giving Heather the opportunity to not so subtly warn Olivia away from her boy. As Steve privately convinces Olivia to give his mother a chance, Heather takes off.
John visits Anna at her hotel room. They talk about Sam and Anna suggests she not ruffle Jason's feathers through her. McBain retorts it might be a little late. As they discuss Sonny's case, Anna finds a photo of Robin and breaks down in tears. John consoles her. Luke returns to find Anna in McBain's arms. Later, Heather shows up at Luke's doorstep.
At the penthouse, Sam avoids telling Jason about Franco being his twin as she tells him about her visit with Heather. Jason thinks they have nothing to worry about. He then tells her about his strange interaction with Kate and how Sonny chooses to believe Kate over him. Sam can't believe it, but Jason understands because the last thing a man wants to believe is that the woman he loves is lying to him. John calls Sam to tell her the lab is running a test on Franco's DNA.
