IT”S A GIRL! She looks beautiful and perfect. I’m having lunch with my wonderful husband, I feel like the luckiest woman on earth today. Plan to do some shopping and then home to watch the show later tonight. Hope everyone is having a great day.

Lovelymarlena – Since you’re a fan of James Franco and mentioned the resemblance between Franco and James Dean, I wonder if you’re aware he played the part of Dean in a 2001 TV movie called simply “James Dean.” The tagline was “Too fast to live… too young to die.” It got excellent reviews and it’s still available on DVD.

While I believe the GH version of Franco is dead and I would not be in favor of his return, my main objection is the fact that he barely had any interaction with the real cast; with the exception of one brief, disgusting encounter with Sam and his final scene with Jason, he was never on the set at the same time as any other actor. I believe that’s the REAL reason why Jason shot first and asked futile questions later because the dialog for Franco’s death scene was already written before the writers were sure about where they wanted to go (like whether Sam is pregnant or not for instance) and there WERE no answers to any of Jason’s questions at the time they filmed the scene. I found it incredibly unsatisfying that Franco never had any more scenes with the other main characters on the show that he affected like Sam, Carly, Michael, or even Sonny. In my opinion, if they’re going to bring a “Special Guest Star” on to the show then they should actually be ON THE SHOW and work with more than one member of the regular cast.

The NFL playoffs are full of surprises. I admit I was pulling for the Saints and Packers in the NFC, and the Patriots and Texans in the AFC, so I’m 1-4 for the weekend, but I’m very happy for the 49ers and Ravens. Here’s my take on what I saw.

The Patriots and Giants are peaking at just the right time, as opposed to the Packers who peaked earlier in the regular season, and then lost their momentum after suffering their only loss to the Chiefs. The Packers rested many of their stars in game 16 followed by a bye week, and they looked like a team that hadn’t played in two weeks. They were out of sync all day. Aaron Rodgers wasn’t nearly as sharp or accurate as he normally is and I’ve never seen his usually reliable receivers drop so many passes. Eli Manning and the NYG did to them what they did to the Jets, Cowboys, and Falcons in recent weeks; they made big plays when they had to and didn’t make the kind of crucial mistakes that their withering pass rush forced their opponents into. I hate those guys, but I recognize the high level they’re playing at and I respect what they have accomplished so far.

New Orleans just can’t take their show on the road, especially outdoors. It’s undeniable that they’re immensely talented, but San Francisco has also been accumulating talent for years and has only been held back by QB play and coaching. They seem to have solved those problems and are now going to be a team to be reckoned with for years to come. The last five minutes of that game were as good as it gets as far as excitement, drama, and entertainment value. I’m pulling for them the rest of the way.

I really wanted the Houston Texans to advance too, but they went about as far as they could with a third string backup QB against one of the all-time great defenses. I was especially happy for Ed Reed and Ray Lewis who are nearing the ends of their long, illustrious carriers, and for the fans of the Ravens who have been waiting for YEARS to host a playoff game. The Ravens players made it a point to toss every TD ball and even one from an interception into the stands to reward their fans. It was a nice gesture.

Finally, the Patriots put a stop to Tebow-Mania. He’s a great kid, but a lousy quarterback, and I think Tom Brady had enough of all the hype surrounding him and decided to remind everybody how the position is SUPPOSED to be played. Just like the Texans could only go so far with a backup QB, the Broncos glaring deficiency at that position were exposed by New England, the number one seed in the tournament, who have to be considered the favorite to win it all now. I think the Broncos had almost a dozen plays that resulted in negative yardage which is far above the league average and a sure sign that the Patriots defense were prepared for anything and everything Tebow and his college-style option offense could do. In the NFL, if a quarterback falls behind and can’t throw the ball he has no chance. That’s when the NFL stands for “Not For Long.”

Next Sunday’s Conference Championship games should be fun and they are usually more entertaining than the Superbowl. I’m hoping San Francisco can put an end to the Giants win streak because it’s really tough to win two playoff games on the road, and unless they play out of their minds, I don’t think the Ravens have a chance against the Brady Bunch, so I’m predicting a Patriots / 49ers Superbowl, with New England the ultimate victor.

    OT:

Poodles, congratulations to the Poddles family
and the lucky new Poodelett! I so excited for
    you and family.

Lily, thanks for the congrats. So on the Packers
loss to NY. I was in the middle since I like both
teams, but definitely going with San Francisco and
off course my Ravens who will have to do better
    offensively against the Patriots.
