Hi All .... Happy New Year ... is it just me or did it look like the WIW was on a cell phone when Spinelli & Maxie looked at her? If so, I guess that means she must be ale to talk

poodles: Cruel like sending your child to military school with the thought of his beloved father killing his beloved step father or cruel like lying to a grieving son as he mourns the death of his first love? And wasn't it Carly that sent Sonny after Jax in the first place because Carly chose Jason over her own daughter and was going to lose custody if it wasn't for Sonny? Jax is a corporate raider, i'm sure he has many enemies and is still kicking.

but, in the real world: Wishing you and your family a wonderful happy healthy New Year.

    ***off topic***

Poodles – Your Swedish uncle sounds like a wise man in any language, and I’ll bet Dr. Poodles will think you look like a princess yourself in your vintage dress.

I’ve always loved old movies, mainly because it’s like looking back in time and seeing how people dressed and talked back then, and it's interesting to learn what was important and what was funny to them. I especially like short films like documentaries and newsreels from the 40’s that looked back on the past from their perspective. There was a particularly entertaining series of comic do-it-yourself films that serve as a great snapshot of middle class living back in the late 40’s - early 50’s. Old travel films were great too. They showed far-away exotic places in this country and others that most people never got to see in any other way. I remember watching films about the Middle East when Americans were loved over there, just like they were around the world in the post-war era, and a short about how the National Parks system was established by Teddy Roosevelt, that had scenes from Mount Rushmore when it was under construction.

We take so many of these magnificent achievements and the ability to easily travel across the country or anywhere in the world so much for granted nowadays that it’s good to remind ourselves every once in a while how much things have changed in the lifetimes of our grandparents and great-grandparents, some for the better, others not so much. We are truly living in the future right now and it’s staggering to try to imagine the world our children’s children will inherit. Hopefully some of them will look back on us with nostalgia and affection as well, but somehow I doubt if this period in history will be remembered as the “Golden Age” of anything except out-of-control commercialism and worldwide economic upheaval and dissatisfaction with governments and authority. Perhaps we’ll get the credit (or the blame) for ushering in the age of social media and interconnectivity fueled by technology that advances far faster than we can hope to keep up with. We here in America and other developed nations are the first people in history where our experiences are no longer limited by physical boundaries such as neighborhoods, cities, states, or even countries. We don’t even have to travel to have “face to face” conversations with people anywhere in the world, but we seem to waste the enormous potential of such technology for trivial purposes just to keep ourselves amused. That’s not to say that there’s not a place for such things. This board is a perfect example of how modern technology can bring people together because of a common interest which can serve to educate, enlighten and yes, entertain us all. It’s just that we seem to be squandering the enormous opportunities we have been given and even worse, we no longer appreciate the sacrifices of those that came before us who made it all possible. Fortunately, we still have time to change those perceptions and I’m optimistic that things will get better – STARTING TOMORROW!

Welcome to the future everybody. Now where did I put my Jet-Pack?

    Happy New Year's Eve everyone!

Although I like Sonny, he is a laughable mobster. Whenever he is going to shoot someone he just keeps talking their head off. I always find myself shouting at the TV, "just shoot already". Of course, the exception was when he shot Dante, I couldn't believe he actually had the nerve to pull the trigger.

I can't believe that Jax was actually afraid of Sonny. I think he stayed away b/c he was upset about losing his family. Although, I can't imagine he didn't take Joslyn with him. I am sure Carly still loves him. I thought they were a good match.

What a bummer New Year's Eve party. I agree that the best dressed award goes to Olivia.

Off Topic: Lily - thanks for the shrimp recipe.
Sounds delish! I think I'll make it tonight...will go good with champagne.

    *****Spoiler Talk****
Did I hear that Ethan is leaving the show? I think that the writers should have Robyn go off to Timbuk-2 to seek a new research medical treatment, that way it will leave the door open if she ever wants to come back.

    Happy New Year All,

poodles - A vintage dress sounds lovely. I have a couple I found in the 70's that are from the 40's and still in good shape. I agree with Scrimmage, you'll work the dress, after all you have a standard poodle as an accessory.

Scrimmage - What a great way to celebrate - enjoy the gig tonight.

4my- Hope you, the hubs, and Jylli are having a wonderful week. I'm sure Jylli is happy that you're at home instead of the tropics. We went to friends house, then out to dinner the other night and you would have thought we left Baba at home alone for days when we came home.

I hope everyone enjoys the shrimp recipe. It's a fairly easy go to for us and can be seasoned to taste. The SO is shelling the shrimp downstairs as we speak.

I want to thank all of you for the many hours of enjoyment, advice, and inspiration you've given me this year.

Unicorn G. I agree 100% with you. I am no fan of Carly, but she was right. I wish that son of hers would go back to jail, and take his father with him. All that Carly hsa done for her son and he calls her out at a pary! And i use to love Sonny for years. But he was not there for Jasone He never is.

Sonny and had his boys ( glad Jason did not get into it.) try to take out Jax. Jax should have call on his big brother, Boy that would have been a blood mess.
