    PURE SPOILER FREE SPECULATION:

It’s a good thing Kate wasn’t on the Love Boat. I think she might’ve gotten her fingerprints all over the murder weapon when she was fondling Johnny’s big tool. For something so innocuous that wasn’t even used, that wrench was certainly featured prominently in that scene, and was even the subject of some vague comment by Johnny about how it comes in handy or how useful it is.

It all fits in with my original theory, so let me do my best Adrian Monk impression.

    Here’s what happened:

Drs. Patrick and Steve teamed up on Lisa (where she scratched Steve’s face), tossed her overboard, and believed they killed her, then rushed off to find their respective women. Unknown to them, Johnny saw all this from his boat (the basis for his new found leverage over Dr. Steve), fished Lisa out of the water, still alive and took off, only to kill her himself, with the wrench, and dump her body in the harbor. He should’ve weighed it down (again, with the wrench - who would hang on to a murder weapon?), but as AZ always says, he lacks experience in these things.

Matt was passed out drunk and Robin was still unconscious while all this was going on. I believe Oblivia de-fainted in time to see Johnny retrieve Lisa, which is why she was so freaked out and relieved to see Dr. Steve, but she’s keeping quiet because she doesn’t want to rat out her ex-boyfriend. Likewise, Anthony, following behind Johnny in another boat, arrived too late to see Patrick and Steve dump Lisa in the drink (which is why he doesn’t know what Johnny’s got on Dr. Steve), but he did catch up to him in time to see Johnny do to Lisa what Michael did to his sister Claudia, within days of the second anniversary of her death. That’s probably why Johnny seems even more on edge and temperamental than usual.

So Anthony is the only person who knows that Johnny is the one who actually killed Lisa, although now that she's heard about the body turning up, I'm sure Oblivia suspects the truth. Meanwhile, Drs. Patrick and Steve are covering up a murder they didn’t commit.

Fortunately for Johnny, Monk doesn’t consult with the PCPD.

Rans – I agree that a plotline could be built to explain that Jake is was taken by Helena and that he is still alive which would pacify the Liz/Jason/Lucky fans, but that wouldn’t exonerate or erase the putrid Luke was drinking and hit a child SL. Bringing Jake back to life isn’t going to bring Jason and Liz or Lucky and Liz back together, nor IMO should. I’d like to see Liz meet a new man (with big feet, tee hee). She deserves the same type of second chance to evolve that Carly is getting now with Shawn.

    OT
bayoubtr - Geaux Tigers. If it's possible, I'd love to see WI vs LSU in the championship game. I'm not sure how the bowls are set up on the college level, but that would be a great game (and I'd bet the over). Enjoy the game.

Scrimmage - Still hoping that it was Steve with the wrench on the deck...and Lisa disarmed him after the blow and took the wrench overboard with her, when Patrick assisted Steve in disposing of her. I agree that Johnny was in the boat and took the body for a burial at sea, but kept the wrench as leverage against Steve. We all know that Dante will protect his mother at all costs, but I'm also wondering if he'll protect the father of his unexpected little brother. Poor Steve, now he'll be at the mercy of Sonny, Dante, and Johnny all in the name of giving Olivia a live in dad for her baby. Couldn't happen to a more self-righteous guy - maybe he'll finally have to go to his cousin for help.

lily hunter: I don't want Jake back for any other reason then for Liz to have her children all back together. I don't care about Liz with Jason or Lucky. I too look forward to seeing Liz with a NEW man. I just don't like a child dead, and it's mother to blame. It would make a whole fan base very happy. As far as explaining Luke, he would just be relieved and that s/l dropped.
What I find interesting is, people can go with a machine that controls the weather of the world, but not a s/l with Helena working her evil well thought out black magic.

rans - Perhaps I didn't express myself well. My point was that if Jake is alive or not, the evidence against Luke (Guza) killing a child is still out there. There is no absolution for him if Jake is alive. Hey, the more fans interested in the show, the better.

Scrimmage I get that you don't want Jake back unless every I is dotted and T is crossed but this is a soap opera where at any time they can and do change their minds about long lost characters.
I think you might have been referring to me in your post about people who don't care how they explain that they are bringing Jake back because that is exactly what I said in my Post under spoiler talk. No,  I don't care how they bring him back I just want him back. This is not because I want to exonerate Luke or get Jason And Liz or Liz and Lucky back together again because I don't. This simply is because the character is just to good to waste. I don't care that some of the best s/l's could happen down the road when he gets older and askes why was he not claimed as Liz and Jason's child or want into the mob or Quartermaines, Spencer action or hit Grandma Monica up for BMW motorcycle.  I also don't look at story possibilities as GH won't last long enough for these s/l's to happen as we never know what will happen in  the future. "Days of Our Lives" was supposed to be cancelled in 2008 when I was still watching and it is still on the air.

While I understand some can't get into a plot unless it is as logical as real life.  I on the other hand don't care about the ridiculousness  of the plot if it leads to a good story, otherwise I would never have been a "Lost" fan. I once watched a soap opera where a well loved character died and they gave all his organs away and he came back and the audience welcomed him back so there never is a never in soap opera s/l's.
I think that's why I like them more than night time logically based shows. Anything can happen and does.

Oops (now that is famous excuse) - my last comment should have read: There is no instant absolution for him (Luke) if Jake is alive.
