It's obvious from the word go that Maggie is going to be a troublemaker, and Steve knows it, so why did he put so much pressure on her to come to Port Charles? Perhaps he is one of those men who thrives on trouble and strife. For myself I cannot stomach the thought of another 'bend the rules and do it my way doctor'. IF Olivia is pregnant and Steve's ex shows up and shows her jealousy, we are in for a bumpy ride.

Unless we are in for 'The Taming of the Shrew', as I have often suggested that the writers read the classics for inspiration, I am not carried away by Carly and Shawn, because I just don't like Carly and don't feel that the character deserves happiness. She has tried to ruin too many lives with her selfish behaviour. The only think I would like to see about this pairing is Shawn get the upper hand and Carly get smacked down into submission.

The reason Shawn worked for Theo Hoffman was that because of leaving the military in disgrac, it was the only job he could find which used his skills. He mentioned that early on. The military life does not equip men for civilian careers as all too many former servicemen discover, especially when the firm which was supposed to be keeping their job open has gone broke and out of business. As we now know, he took the blame for a bad decision by his superior officer, and he would not be the first one to do so. Friendly fire incidents are sometimes the result of bad decisions by senior officers but they have to find a scapegoat. Maybe Shawn appealing the decision and applying for exoneration would be a good storyline.

I am at a loss to understand Sam's temper tantrum, after all, she has slept around the block a few times and is no shrinking violet. My bet is that Franco did not violate her but is just toying with Jason.

I am also puzzled as to why she waited until she returned to Port Charles from Hawaii before going to the hospital.

Cynic, I am a little puzzled by your comment! There is a big difference between having consensual sex with someone and being raped! You don't think she should be having any issues with what Franco possibly did to her? She was celebrating her honeymoon with the man she loves and now is dealing with the thought she has been violated by a maniac. I think a little temper tantrum is understandable! And she still hasn't been able to go to the hospital.

Cynic: Shawn had the chance to be a teacher and chose to stay working with Jason and Sonny.

    Happy Saturday.

    Bayoubtr- GO TIGERS!

Hi Rans. I agree it would be nice if Jake could be alive, I just don’t see how they could make it possible. I think what we might be seeing is Jake letting Liz and Lucky know he’s ok, not afraid or alone. I personally would like to believe heaven, but whatever ones belief, I think as a parent they would find that to be comforting.

Canadagirl- Missed you. Glad to see your comments.

Sabebaby- Welcome. Please join the fun as often as you can.

Cynic- There is a BIG difference in consensual sex and being raped and violated by a psychopath while your husband watched. I would be extremely concerned about any woman or man who could just shake it off. It’s almost like saying a woman was asking for it by the way she was dressed or by her actions. It’s these outdated assumptions that prevent some women from reporting and reaching out after being a VICTIM of rape.

poodles: They can say Helena had him and set the whole thing up. Plus, they never say Jake is ok. Liz always sees him scared, which breaks my heart.

    Feel good, enjoy your weekend!

Just because I’m against the idea that Jake is still alive on the basis of logic, story integrity, and in the interests of keeping things at least semi-realistic on this show, and even though I’m on record as believing there are already too many children on this show with more possibly on the way (I hope I’m wrong about that), don’t think that I wouldn’t be thrilled to have Jake back, but only if they can give us a plausible explanation about what really happened, which as I’ve said before, is virtually impossible. Not only would that get Luke out of the collective doghouse, and probably return the spring in his step and lift his spirits along with those of several other characters by freeing them all of the interminable guilt and sorrow they must feel, but it would also mean the return of a character who is either related by blood and / or closely connected to every major family and power base in Port Charles.

He’s a blood relative of the Webbers, and the Quartermaines, his brother and adoptive father are Spencers. His father is second only to Sonny in the Corinthos organization, and, for the first several months of his life, Nikolas Cassadine believed him to be his own son, and probably still does.

The long term potential for such a character far exceeds the prospects of GH lasting long enough for him to fulfill that potential, but for some reason the previous regime decided to kill him off in a tragedy with far reaching and long lasting repercussions.

I can practically hear all the “Jake is alive” hopefuls saying that that’s exactly why he should be brought back, and I don’t disagree except to say that it’s really why he should’ve never been killed off in the first place, especially in the unambiguous manner that he was. If they had written that he was lost in a plane crash or carried off in the Outback by dingoes only to survive and return alive and well, that would be typical soap stuff and I would have absolutely no problem with that (especially if Jake came back as King of the Dingo’s - feral kids are cool!), but unfortunately he was killed under circumstances that I’ve listed before that leave no room for the possibility of mistaken identity. It’s not like they never found the body; some child died that night and Liz was with him from seconds after he was hit by the car, all the way to the hospital. I don’t care how badly the child was injured; Jake’s mother would’ve known if that wasn’t him, just as surely as she knows that it was.

Many of you have said that you don’t care how they explain it, just as long as they bring Jake back, and that’s fine if that’s how you feel, but I’m afraid you’re just getting your hopes up needlessly, and I hope you won’t be too disappointed, or feel cheated and let down if they close the books on Jake for good this time.

All I know right now is that Jake can’t be alive if he’s communicating with Lucky from the afterlife, and somebody is definitely calling Lucky “Daddy.” I realize that’s not the most logical or realistic turn of events either, but at least the supernatural is something that someone could accept as a literary device without completely throwing common sense out the window.

And since I’m already drizzling on everybody’s sunshine, some posters, Liason fans I presume, are interpreting Elizabeth’s delirium induced embrace of newlywed Jason an indication that they are somehow going to reconcile in the near future. I have no idea what the writers have in mind, but I doubt if that’s the case. First of all, I believe that lately, certain scenes were set up for the express purpose of using them to promote the November sweeps period. I haven’t seen any of the commercials or previews since I’m SPOILER FREE, but I’d be willing to bet that they’ll use the shot of FauxMaxie standing over the poor dead Captain’s body with what appear to be blood stained hands when they get deeper into the whodunnit surrounding Lisa’s demise, and the shot of Jason holding Liz in his arms as a tease implying possible trouble between Jason and Sam, but it’s really just a picture taken out of context. At the very least, I’ll bet we see that picture on all the soap mags at the grocery store check-out.

Sam and Jason have to work through this Franco business, and perhaps Jason, Liz, and Lucky are about to finally get some closure on Jake’s death, but I don’t see Jason and Elizabeth getting together anytime soon, especially with Bigfoot looming in her future. I think they just like to throw Liason fans a bone every once in a while.

Just a thought I had. Maybe Jason stopped in to see Liz because he thought she might be able to help Sam deal with being raped since Liz has had a similar experience. Sam seems unwilling to talk to those closest to her, which is understandable. She and Liz made peace with each other after Jake's death and seem to be on better terms so maybe Liz could get through to her and get her to at least get checked by a doctor. Unfortunately Liz is a bit delirious at the moment but hopefully that will pass soon. She seems to be taking longer to heal than those with gunshot wounds and brain surgery!

    Hi everyone,

Sabebaby - Glad to have you join us again. I agree, Shawn is unlike any other male character that has been introduced in a long time. He is the archetypical hero of the story right now – a sort of Hans Solo or 1940s Humphrey Bogart character – redeemed because of and now the redemder of the semi-tough heroine who has been making her way through the world essentially on her own. Yes, I’m talking about Carly here, and I know that many don’t think of her as the heroine of the piece. Which brings me to:

Cynic - I would say that the Shrew was tamed the first time Shawn kissed her. He is not Jax so caught up in his rivalry with Sonny that the game’s the thing for him. He’s also not Sonny, Alcazar, Tony Jones, or AJ, all needy men that had brother/father issues. He’s his own man, doing his best to live up to his hero – his father. Refreshing.

poodles – I like your idea of Heaven. I think (speculation not spoiler) that Jake is being cared for there by Siobahn and he’s not alone or afraid. He is only trying to warn both his parents that Aiden is at risk.

Scrimmage – I thought I would clarify my comment about Lucky not having the karma of Hitler: IMO Lucky’s suffering is both an accident of birth (Luke and Laura), his inability to live an authentic life as Lucky Spencer as opposed to defining himself as the son of Luke, and some very bad writing.

I’m looking forward to Maggie the “rule breaker” meeting COS Robin the “rule maker”. They’re either going to be great friends or there’s going to be an epic Dr. girl fight complete with the only kind of games women can play in the workplace.
