Shawn opens up to Carly, Steve and Maggie get reacquainted, and Liz hallucinates.

A freaked out Lucky returns to his room in Ireland and starts to pack. The innkeeper arrives wondering what happened. Lucky thinks his grief is making him see things that aren't there. He explains how he heard Jake's voice in the graveyard and the new message he received. The woman thinks Jake sent that message, but Lucky doesn't believe that. She urges him to listen to the rest.

At Kelly's, Shawn makes a call and tells someone he's thinking of them and has a package to deliver. Carly bursts in wanting to talk to Shawn, but he tells her today is not about her. When Carly continues to ramble on, a solemn Shawn reminds her it's Veterans Day. It might not mean anything to her, but it does to him. She admits she didn’t think about it and asks who the package is for. He responds it's for the family of a marine who died in the friendly fire incident. He explains he writes and sends things to the family as often as he can. Carly thinks it's an amazing thing for him to do, but Shawn doesn't have a choice because he can't forget. He lives with it every day and says no one should have to grow up without a father. Carly notes it sounds like he's talking from experience and assumes his dad died when he was a kid. Shawn confirms it, adding that he watched him get shot by a gang member at a corner store while they were buying milk. Shawn gets uncomfortable talking about personal things, but Carly reminds him they all need someone. Shawn hangs a flag for everyone who has been on duty and left their kids at home. Carly pours them a glass of milk in honor of the tradition Shawn shared with his father. Carly tells him it's an honor to know someone like him and to remember the military. Shawn sincerely thanks her.

Steve is shocked to see Maggie at the hospital, but she reminds him he hired her. He wonders why she didn't call and drags her into the conference room. She references their past in Memphis, but Steve points out she's there to work. He notes the syringe and she tells him it's a good distraction for her young patients when they see the real thing isn't so big. He knows she was lurking around the hospital in the clown mask on Halloween. She explains she was trying to get the lay of the land and learned he and the hospital need someone like her. Steve reiterates he brought her there for the hospital, not him. They rehash some old times and she reminds him he took risks and can't sweep what happened under the rug. Olivia shows up and Steve introduces the women. After Maggie has left, Olivia tells Steve she wants them to go to her old neighborhood for a night on the town. Steve reminds her they are suspects in an investigation so they agree to put it on hold. Maggie returns to overhear Steve say he wants to watch over Maggie to make sure she doesn’t get into any trouble. Olivia wonders how close they were.
Jason and Sam return to the penthouse. He suggests she talk to a therapist, but she doesn’t want to talk to anyone. Sam feels dirty and helpless. Jason assures her that's the last thing he sees when he looks at her. He just sees his wife and the woman he fell in love with. He hugs her, but she just wants to be alone for a bit. She encourages him to go to the hospital for his checkup. After Jason has left, Sam goes through their wedding gifts and starts throwing them around in anger.

Shawn finds Liz trying to leave her hospital room. He forces her back in bed because she has a fever. Liz starts to think she's talking to the man who saved her, but Matt tells her she's hallucinating from the fever. Monica enters the room as Liz starts to hear a child's voice yelling for mommy. Matt leaves and Elizabeth desperately asks Monica to help her because Jake needs her. Monica gives her a light sedative to help her rest and exits. After Jason runs into Monica and gets filled in at the hub, he enters Liz's room. She clings to him and asks him to help her save their little boy.
