    Wake Up!

    Thursday, April 28 2011
Luke's family and friends plead with him to get help for his alcoholism.

Luke comes to in an empty warehouse duct taped to a chair with his family, Nikolas, Sonny and an interventionist encircling him. Luke predictably rages against it insisting he is not an alcoholic, but if they want to talk to him about killing Jake then bring it on. He learns everyone has written a letter and will read it out loud to him.

Lulu goes first and tells her father the only thing that mattered to her when she was a child was being with him. Even though she resented him for not being around much, she couldn’t ever hate him. She notes he has always supported her and recalls when he helped her through her abortion. Lulu says he is not the man she accepted back into her life anymore. She calls him suicidal and says he has been replaced by a man who doesn’t care about anyone else, least of all himself. She asks him to get help because she needs a dad in her life. Luke tells her she is wrong.

Ethan goes next and asks his father to get some help. Luke in turn tells him how disappointed he is in him. Sonny interrupts reminding him how he's always been able to balance being a father with a friend. They reminisce about the camping trip with Lucky. Sonny tells him watching him with Lucky made fatherhood look fun and made him want to be a dad. Sonny doesn’t want this disease to get the best of him. He urges him to get the help he needs.

Nikolas gets up and tells his former step father that he always admired how he has been able to accept people as they are, but the alcohol is robbing him of that. Carly then bluntly tells her uncle that the alcohol is robbing him of his relationships. She asks him to fight back and get treatment. Luke won't give up who he is. Carly doesn't want that, she just wants him to give up the booze.

Tracy's up next, but Luke asks her not to hide behind the letter and to just say what she has to say. Tracy tearfully expresses that she has loved loving him, but she does not accept his disease. She knows she has enabled him because she thought he could only love her when he was drunk. She recalls how it changed when Helena kidnapped her and he still loved her. She thinks alcohol is stealing his soul and says if he had cancer she would expect him to seek treatment, so she expects him to seek treatment for this. Luke tells her he married her with no agenda, but he points out she can't say the same because she wants to change him. He tells her it will never happen. He won't change, not even for her.

Luke swivels his chair around to Lucky and says, "Your turn cowboy." Lucky tells his father he was his hero growing up and in some ways he always will be. Lucky recalls all he has learned from him and says he is the best dad any kid could ask for. Lucky assures him he hasn't lost faith in him and recalls when they reunited after their first horrible rift years ago. Lucky knows what he is going through right now when it comes to facing an addiction and pleads with him to fight because the disease has him. Lucky cries as he orders his father to wake up. He says his son just died, so he needs his father and his wisdom, clarity and strength. Lucky doesn’t want a faded, diminished vision of him. He wants him. He wants his dad. Lucky doesn't want to walk through this nightmare without his father. Luke says he would do anything for him, but he will not lie to him. He will not say something just because he needs to hear it. Luke declares he ran down Lucky's son and he has to live with that fact. Lucky now has to live with the fact that he wasn't drunk and he is not an alcoholic and does not have a disease. Luke addresses the group and asks if they are done.

The counselor tells Luke arrangements have been made to take him to an inpatient rehab. Luke is incensed and declares he will not seek treatment because he is not an alcoholic. One by one the group tells Luke he will be cut out of their lives if he does not get help. Luke asks to be let out of the chair and Ethan cuts him loose. Luke stands up, tells the group there's a bottle with his name on it and leaves.

Wow, interesting episode. I always love looking at flashbacks. Everybody was looking so young.

I guess Luke will be going to ShadyBrooks. Either that or get cut off from his family. No more Spanky Buns. Nobody to talk to but Jack Daniels if he doesn't get any help. No more sipping on Gin and Juice for you Luke.

Hi everyone and I do hope everyone is safe from those awful tornados.
What a great show today and loved how they showed the old scenes when it was each persons turn. Gee Lulu even I thought you were great today. But one person was missing..BOBBIE!!! Why was she not here today..writers shame on you. Otherwise it was well done. Wow I thought they would have said a classy place not just Shady Brook. But think that he will go there and take his smmer holidays at the same time. Luke well done.

It's not Luke's fault Jake was hit no more than it's Elizabeth's fault he got out of the house. Who's to say Jake wouldn't have been hit if Luke hadn't had anything to drink??? This is really getting on my nerves.

Happy to say that we made it through last night without a tornado touchdown.
Wow...this was so deep today. Bravo to everyone.
Luke will go...he just has to.

Powerful show today and I loved the flashbacks I wish bobbie was there also lulu loves her dad so much but he was always gone. Lulu and Lucky and Luke was astoning in there performance. Now everybody has to turn there backs or it won't work he will think about what they say but the next couples days are crucial. Lucky was very emotional today and what he said about addict is so true.

Wow! powerful episode (even if it was interrupted by Obama, AGAIN; this guy in on TV every day; enough already)they couldn't wait till news time???
Koodoos to Luke, Lucky and Lulu; fantastic performances.
Luke might just give up the booze by himself to prove them all wrong; can't see him giving into rehab.

    Hello, my fellow posters....
Well, as I mentioned yesterday I've never been involved in an intervention so really do not what takes place at one. But, I was surprised to hear the "either or" comments. Either you go to Rehab or we will never see you again. Wow, that's helpful. (Sarcasm here). I thought it was all about love and how much that person means to you.
Any way, in my opinion the flash backs made Luke look like a real sweetheart and not the lush he supposedly is. I think Luke will come back being the dear lush he's always been. This is supposing he agrees to rehab.
And what the heck were Nick and Ethan doing there? I consider them a couple of lushes. And who the heck did Carly think she was. She aught to go to a Rehab for self centeredness. I found most of the characters today rather contemptible. Except for maybe Tracy.

    Happy Rainy Thursday,

I’m really not complaining, just seemed as if every time I went outside today the skies opened up. Nothing like being wet and ultra air-conditioned at the same time.

I was really surprised that the intervention interruption only lasted for five minutes today. I wonder if Frons was on the phone screaming at the president of ABC new, because it seemed as if they cut away from the speech abruptly. Again, not complaining and although I feel bad for the tornado victims, I wonder why the president goes on television during the day when ABC claims the ratings are terrible.

I was surprised that I didn’t hate today’s show. I really wanted to hear what Ethan had to say, but I’ll catch it on Soapnet at 10. I don’t know how many of you are aged enough to remember live theater on television in the early 60s, but today’s show reminded me of them in tone and simplicity. The acting was some of the best I’ve seen on GH in a very long time, although I have to say that I’m happy this SL is coming to an end.

Lucky was taking a huge risk (still a gambler at heart) setting the intervention in motion. Luke was on his way out of town seeking to erase the “past” and find an adventure that would give him a fresh start with no obligations, no ties, and no dead grandson when he was drugged, grabbed, and duck taped to a chair. IMO a compelling argument for sobriety would be that if he hadn’t been drinking for 90 days, his “Luke Spencer” skills would have spotted Ethan drugging his drink. For me the big question is will Luke reconsider losing everyone in his life or just leave town for 6 months and return only because someone in PC needs his help. All I ask is no more well meaning lectures or piles of empty bottles, or creative suicide attempt scenes.

Only saw the 2nd half, was very moved by Luke and Lucky's interaction. Made me realize all over again that Luke's connection to Lucky is way deeper than that to his other kids, the two of them did so much together, are similar in so many ways. I don't know if he will end up in rehab, or if he'll take off, which he was going to do before the intervention. He's in such a self-hating place right now, that its easier to reject the love they offered, as deep down he doesn't feel he deserves it.

Does anyone remember what sent Lucky to rehab? Somehow I don't think he was that hard to convince, was it Elizabeth being pregnant w Jake and thinking it was his bio child?

Another person missing was Laura. Know they have her off in France, so it would have taken planning (plus sweet talking Genie Francis) but they had Lucky and Shaboom going to Ireland and back in a day. I think Laura may have the ability to get through.

So when Sonny comes home from the intervention, is Brenda going to be upset that he was there with Carly and that she wasn't invited?LOL

    OFF TOPIC
Last night we had three tornadoes touch down around the area, one about 20 miles away and not a drop of rain here, just 3 hours of tornado coverage and warning interruptions. I didn't realize that the weather service warnings even interrupt On Demand TV. Again, not really complaining about the coverage and grateful to be out of harm's way, just would like to go back to the days of the crawl warnings at the bottom of the picture.
