Don't Let Fear Get In The Way.

    Thursday, April 21 2011
Johnny's motives are questioned, Sam consults with Dr. Lee, and Jax argues with Brenda.

Lulu visits Dante at the station and listens to him bemoan Michael's desire to join the mob. Once Lulu has left, Ronnie overhears Dante leaving a message for Brandon's lawyer, Angela Dwyer. Ronnie tells him new evidence surfaced implicating Michael.

At the penthouse, Jason urges Sam not to let fear get in her way of having a baby. A mistake he made. He offers to go with her to her appointment. While she is touched by the offer, she declines and leaves to see Dr. Lee by herself. Diane stops by and tells Jason it doesn’t look good for Abby or Michael since they don't have alibis. She points out Jason doesn't have one either. She asks for a real answer on who killed Brandon. He responds it wasn't him, so she asks if anyone can vouch for his whereabouts. He says he was on his bike that night. He doesn't think Michael did it either, but she thinks Michael might be covering for Abby. Dante shows up after Diane has left. After rehashing the situation, Jason declares Michael will not go to prison for Brandon's murder. Dante warns him it might be too late.

Sam meets with Kelly at the hospital to find out if she is a good candidate for the fertility procedure.

Johnny bumps into Abby at Kelly's and offers to lend out his lawyer free of charge should she need one again in the future. Michael walks in and suggests using the Zacchara lawyer could be a conflict of interest since she represented Brandon. Johnny insists he has no agenda and sincerely wants to help. After Johnny leaves, Abby questions whether or not Johnny could be using Michael to get at Sonny. Michael doesn't think so. She again tells him she doesn’t want him to join the mob, especially if it's to protect her. He just wants respect and to prove to his father he's worthy.

Ronnie brings Michael down to the station. With Diane present, Ronnie shows them video footage of Michael with Brandon the night Brandon died. He tells Michael the best thing he can do for himself and Dante, who could lose his badge, is confess.

Ethan stops by Johnny's and laments his father's self-destruction. He doesn't know what to do for Luke and asks what someone does in this situation. Johnny chuckles that Ethan is asking the wrong guy. Johnny asks about Maya, but Ethan says she's gone back to Philadelphia for family and he doesn't know when she's coming back. Johnny offers Ethan a drink, but he passes because of what happened with Luke. Johnny tells him he might have a job for him, but wonders if he is opposed to training someone new because Michael might be coming to work for him. After Ethan has left, Lulu drops by to question Johnny's intentions towards Michael. She urges him not to take Michael down with him if he insists on being part of the mob world.

Upon hearing from Molly that Brenda didn't want the kids to overwhelm Lucian, Carly hightails it over to Brenda's to ream her out. Brenda declares she would never try to keep Sonny's kids from him.

Outside Josslyn's hospital room, Shawn declines Jax's offer, as Carly walks up. She reminds Jax how many times Franco got close to Josslyn and points out Shawn will do anything he can to make sure their daughter is safe. Jax doesn't trust him, but thinks they should hash it out another time when Shawn isn't there.

Jax visits Brenda at home. They talk about Lucian and she muses on the possibility of their kids having playdates. He thinks that'd be great, but he won't allow his daughter in Sonny's house. Brenda defends her husband and they argue about the dangers Sonny's life poses. Jax thinks both Lucian and Brenda deserve better than being around guards 24/7.

Carly finds Sam crying at Kelly's. She assumes she found out she can't have kids during her consult with Dr. Lee.

Tomorrow's Port Charles spoilers for General Hospital:

Sonny pays Anthony a visit in prison.

Michael tells Jason he has modeled his life after him.

    Sam has news for Jason.

Dang, they start the show with Carly bumping her gums at Brenda for not allowing Brenda to let Soony's kids have his party at his house. Brenda, you really should get the locks changed.

Liked Lulu's new hairdo. Lately, I have been able to tolerate her. Go figure.

Shawn, you need to pimp slap Jax one good time and he will stay out your face. Jax sounds like a broken record where Sonny is concerned. He is the town crier. Shut up already.

Johnny had the nerve to tell Ethan he was different from his father. How? That is the biggest lie I've ever heard. He is in the mob like daddy and he has a few marbles loose like his daddy. Liked Lulu getting in his face, telling him about himself.

Jax is just miserable. Granted he what he said to Brenda was the truth but he's just a miserable ba$tard. He's not happy and wants to make everyone just as miserable and smug.

I just really wish that someone would get rid of Carley! I am so sick and tired of this monotonous character. She is like a rubber ball that just keeps bouncing off the walls and getting nowhere.

As a simple caveman, I usually refrain from remarking on what the ladies on the show are wearing except on the occasions when they look exceptionally hot, or are wearing something really unusual, which brings me to Lulu today. I liked her hair too, but as soon as she showed up at the PCPD I wondered “Where’s Lenny and Squiggy?” To my admittedly untrained eye, that dress and sweater looked like something out of a 1950’s black and white teen sock-hop movie that she could’ve made herself. I’m probably way off base and it’s very fashionable, but she looked decidedly “retro” to me.

As far as the show, I did like that Lulu, as women often do, tossed Johnny’s words from years ago back in his face to point out the contradictions in his current actions. On the other hand, I’m pretty sure that Dante would be very unhappy with her once again taking advantage of their relationship and his position as a cop by inserting herself into the equation and telling Johnny the status of an ongoing investigation, especially after she promised not to do it again after the whole "hit-and-run suspect list" debacle. What Lulu isn’t taking into account is that what she’s doing makes Dante look as dirty as anything, as if he’s using his girlfriend to leak details to a suspect who, oh by the way, also happens to be her former lover. Dante has some pretty cozy relationships all the way around when it comes to the mob, and they’re not all his family.

As an aside, I wouldn’t mind seeing Lulu and Johnny have an affair, or maybe just a one-night-stand for old times sake, behind Dante’s back. Sleeping with a cop AND a mobster would make for some good soapy fun.

As you might expect from a supermodel, Brenda’s not used to so many people disagreeing with her in one day. Several times today, both with Carly and Jax, Brenda had a look on her face as if she didn’t understand English. As soon as she realized what Carly was upset about, she should’ve apologized immediately for the confusion, taken responsibility for the misunderstanding, and asked Carly to be sure to tell Michael and Morgan that of course they are welcome in their father’s home at any time. She should also promise to call Kristina and Molly to explain that she didn’t mean to give them the impression that they should stay away, and that they too are always welcome, just perhaps not everybody all at once right off the bat.

It was Jax that Brenda was the most confused by. She knows he hates Sonny, was against their marriage and while Jax doesn’t doubt that Sonny loves his children, he also is convinced that anyone near Sonny is in constant mortal danger, and that the measures he has to take just to protect them all makes them virtual prisoners in their own lives. That’s the kind of life that Jax is determined to spare MiniMax and Josslyn, and she could hardly expect that he would condone it for Brenda and her “son.” Still, Brenda seemed surprised that Jax would not support her decision to raise a child in Sonny’s world, but Jax is only saying out loud what Brenda is afraid to admit to herself. It’s like she was wondering why she was on the side that she was arguing.

Dante got his wish. He HAS apparently rubbed off on Michael because he’s been acting like an idiot lately. I’m going to have to know who took the video, and why they waited this long to come forward, but assuming the video is authentic and not set up by Anthony’s lawyer, Michael is in heap big trouble, and it’s his own damn fault. Even if somebody else (Abby?) confesses, he’s still going to have to answer for illegal possession of a firearm and probably assault with a deadly weapon, ALL WHILE ON PROBATION!!! Can you say “Hello Pentonville?” I hope he’s got some nice tattoos picked out. Michael has had the shortest criminal career in the history of the mob.

What Lulu said to Johnny was right on. Never have figured out why Johnny stays in the mob anyway, he's not really good at it, and in that business, if you're not all in, you'll soon be dead.

Jax is still acting like a tool. Liked it better when he was a corporate raider, buying and dismantling companies, than the self-righteous a$$ he is most of the time now.

With Maya out of town, look for Kristina to redouble her efforts to win over Ethan. Soon she'll be out of high school, look for the romance between the two of them to start soon after.

I didn’t notice earlier, but the same quizzical expressions on Brenda’s face that I was talking about are in the screen cap pictures in today’s recap.

Posted by Scrimmage at Thursday, April 21 2011 03:27 PM

    Scene: Johnny’s penthouse.

    Johnny: “Where’s Maya?”

Ethan: “She’s (sniff) gone to live with the angels.”

    Johnny: “What??!! Maya’s DEAD?”

Ethan: “No, she's going to be appearing in…. (deep announcer’s voice) ‘Charlie’s Angels’ this fall, on ABC. Wednesdays at 9/8 central immediately following “Dancing With Talented Fat People.”

Didn't you just love Dr. Lee's new office??
And don't you just love the new decor in the PCPD? Wow, a whole bunch of new stuff...
I'm actually hating the two faces on the scene. I mean, what's going on with cutting everything down to size. What size? I hate to say it but GH is beginning to bore me.

    Anybody watching the Eagles?

Scrimmage--Lulu did have a retro look, but yes, that's the in style these days. JMO but think she looked a lot better than ol Laverne and Shirley did in similar attire back in the day.

    Hi everyone,

Carly made Sonny sign over his rights to their sons, so that Jax could raise them in the proper environment, but as soon as Brenda (as translated by Hissy) says that she doesn’t want Sonny’s kids around Aiden Carly declares that Michael and Morgan can spend all the time in the world with Sonny. Carly should have saved some spit and vinegar for Jax today when he was playing poke the skunk with her and Shawn. Good for Shawn tearing up Jax’s check in his face. Jax has no business speaking on the subject of self-respect because he lost his the moment he met Brenda and Sonny. I did have to laugh when Shawn told Carly (of all people) that Jax is a manipulative SOB. That man hasn’t seen manipulative yet.

So Jax doesn’t want Carly anymore, but doesn’t want Shawn around her either. He couldn’t wait to run straight to Brenda on the pretense of caring about Lucian. I’ll just bet he wants to set up a play date with Brenda. I can’t decide if Carly hates Brenda more than Jax hates Sonny, but IMO Jax has become tiresome in his crusade against Sonny. He can run all over PC saying that Sonny’s in the business, no child around him is safe, but all he’ll get for his effort is my finger pressing FF.

I’m still confused about Johnny’s motives concerning Michael and Abby, but enjoying seeing the story play out. I was a little surprised to hear him asked “Ethel” if he would mind training Michael. Who trained Ethan? He’s even more inept at the business than Johnny is. It was nice to hear the explanation of Maya’s whereabouts and that Ethan “loves” her. Hopefully that will be enough to keep him away from Hissy, or they might beat Lulu and Dante in the race to make Sonny and Luke grandparents of Corinthos/Spencer spawn.

Ronnie’s proof that Michael killed Brandon is as lame as he is, but I wonder how Dante is going to keep Michael out of Pentonville for breaking parole this time…and please no more Jason confessions to cover for Michael. If he and Sam are going to have a baby (when did Jason get on board with this?), then daddy can’t be going to the big house anymore. I do find comfort in the fact that Ronnie will find some way to screw this up by falling back on his expedient methods of police work. Maybe AZ will have him dealt with finally.

Did anyone get the impression today that Jake’s death wasn’t just about paving the way for the JaSam baby, but also an excuse for those in the organization to say stuff happens anytime to anyone, not just the mob, at least that seems to be Michael’s take on things. Brenda should have used that argument to shut Jax up today.

The SO just came in to tell me it was reported on ABC news that Kate Middleton bought underwear at a discount store today. I think the whole network must be run by morons.
