Tristan Rogers And Genie Francis Out At General Hospital.

    Monday, December 09 2013

Changes in store for Port Charles.

    Updated: December 9.

"General Hospital" star Tristan Rogers (Robert Scorpio) recently tweeted the specifics of when he's set to stop taping the show before returning to "The Young And The Restless" in early January next year. Rogers will finish taping his final episodes in Port Charles on Thursday December 19 before his holiday break in Australia.

Rogers' character, Robert Scorpio, just aided in the demise of arch enemy Cesar Faison (Anders Hove) with his former wife and colleague, Anna Devane (Finola Hughes), after they escaped Cassadine Island. Stay tuned in coming weeks to see what's in store for Scorpio before he leaves.

In addition, Rogers also tweeted his support of Daytime television and asks everyone to be supportive of the genre.

    Original article: November 14.

Tristan Rogers who recently reprised his role as Robert Scorpio on "General Hospital" is leaving Port Charles soon. Head writer, Ron Carlivati, tweeted the fact and noted Scorpio would be written out of a big February sweeps storyline. Fans are assured that before then we will see a lot of Robert. Soap Opera Digest confirmed today that Rogers is returning to "The Young And The Restless" as Aussie crime lord, Colin Atkinson.

Rumors that Sean Kanan (A.J. Quartermaine) was fired were squelched recently by Kanan who tweeted:

In a recent TV Guide Magazine interview, Carlivati admits he had to write Laura (Genie Francis) off the show when her contract was over and that A.J.'s storyline cooled down when Robin (Kimberly McCullough) came back because her "return to Port Charles would be big and impact nearly every character." He questions the need to see characters "if they're not doing something crucial and interesting," and warns if viewers are watching a show just for a character or a couple, "you're putting yourself in a difficult situation…because you'll end up disappointed." About writing characters off the show, he does it 'because it's his job, not because he wants to'. Carlivati indicates that those who are not on contract "can pop in and out when we need them. It has allowed us to broaden our canvas of characters and pull from so many different eras of the show."

Funny he writes for his pet characters, no matter how horrible they are, but we shouldn't watch for the same reason, our faces. Guy's a hack!

As I've said before, if you speak the truth, i.e, if you are in any way critical of TPTB, you get axed. Evidence: TR has never been shy about his real criticism of the show, and poor Genie Francis--let her say a word and she is ostracized and shunned by actors and TPTB alike. I've read this man's comments; I don't buy them for a minute. My opinion: He speaks out of both sides of his mouth.
And he has taken away any semblance of the show that used to be--as well as destroyed the legacy characters. And he belittles the audience--the faithful audience that kept the show on air to this point by watching--with his "camping up" and mocking of the show. Bad news for all of us! Give him a lump of coal in his stocking for Christmas.

Totally agree with you Nancy,Genie has begged for a good storyline for years and gets crumbs thrown her way while others are given great writing etc. I don't believe anything the powers that be say, they wanted her for 50th anniversary threw her a bone and now are done with her! GF is a class act and never says anything bad about anyone but she has voiced her opinion many times on the lack of good writing for her character. I'm at a loss for words regarding this and have and will continue to support her and defend her to the bitter end. Not cool GH!

Get rid of this hack job 'writer'??? Yes, I watch the show for the characters and their story lines!!! And for this jerk to mock the loyal audience members who are responsible for him paying his rent??? Fire his ass right now!!!

If you think this is bad, I watch U.K. soap Hollyoaks where they have a very high cast turnover rate. In fact, just last month they had a storyline which killed off five major characters all in two days. That's just the way it is with soaps. Characters come and go... and come again. I don't like that Laura and Robert are leaving, but I am at least pleased that the door has been left open for a return when they are needed.

It was because of Luke and Laura that I started watching GH... now I like the Tracey / Luke. It is like a comedy. Only thing that bothers me is Tracey looks so much older then Luke. Can you say "cougar"?

Ron Carlivati is a terrible writer! He ruined One Life to Live. The characters became unrecognizable, and the same is happening on General Hospital. My mother and I were just talking last week about how stupid he has made the good guys: Anna, Luke, Duke, etc. Over and over again the storyline has stretched to become preposterous. Give the characters good writing. I don't particularly care if Genie Francis comes or goes (loved her years ago), but I do care that we as viewers aren't insulted and the characters we have grown to love over these 50 years have storylines worthy of them. Get rid of Carlivati.

Since he hasn't been fired does this mean the story line will finally finish up the mystery of who shot Olivia and get around to who shot Connie, and who planted the gun outside the boat house. At some point you will have to have a solution since the Morgan/Ava was unreal. I can't believe you haven't even had anyone put the AJ in question.

Carlivati should take a look at Days - it has out ranked GH for years and what do you know - They don't recycle their cast. They will have a few people come and go but the core cast has been the same for well over 15 years. If you continue to let the viewers favorite characters go and bring on some that people don't care for THEY QUIT WATCHING!
