Jonathan Jackson Out At General Hospital. (Updated.)

    Moving on.

    Updated November 16:

In an interview with TV Guide, Jonathan Jackson confirmed he will be leaving "General Hospital." His last air date as Lucky will be during the week of December 19. He cited physical and emotional exhaustion from all the tragedy and angst he's had to play - Jake's [James Nigbor] death, Luke's [Anthony Geary] downfall, Siobhan's [Erin Chambers] death, Lucky's addiction - as the reason for his departure.

Jackson explained that while he is thankful for being given so much work, "There was just no reprieve. I have a wife and three kids and other things in life I have to think about. I just knew I couldn't sustain the schedule at "GH" and that kind of emotion for much longer. It was just too intense."

It seems Lucky's exit will occur when the character returns to Ireland. He won't die or get a recast, so, according to Jackson, a return is a possibility. He also shared that his real life son Titus will continue playing Aiden.

I was watching way back when JJ first started playing Lucky. He is the only Lucky and I will miss him. But, considering the material he has been given the last year, I can't say I am surprised.

They should have kept Greg Vaughn.

I don't think any actor wants to cry for most of the time he is on screen.

I think Jonathan Jackson's comments mirror those of the viewers. As a viewer, I, too, abhorred the killing of Jake, the downfall of Luke, the failure to put Lucky and Elizabeth together again (and JJ also wanted this, he says.) Again, the writers and TPTP just blunder forward with their own agendas and egos and never listen to the loyal viewers--not even the great actor. Why are they sabotaging their own show when it is in grave danger of being cancelled? Why don't the LISTEN???

From this picture, he looks like he could use a long rest and some sun. He does look like a guy with an addiction.

I love JJ as an actor, he is one of the best. But all he has done is cried for almost a year, I can only imagine his home life. I have much luv for JJ, but they need to give Lucky a new direction.

BUT since JJ is leaving they should beg back Greg! Greg's Lucky was fun, laughed, and looked like he enjoyed time with his children.

Lucky deserves more than tears, death, and drug storylines.
