I can’t even tell you how much I enjoyed Patrick and Robin singing “(I’ve Had) the Time of My Life” at Jake’s. In a scene that could have been super cheesy, the Drakes were fun, cute and flirty - everything we want our couples to be. They are one of the few couples on Daytime right now that are genuinely happy and in love, without the threat of something hanging over them to ruin it, and that jumped off the screen. Of course it helped that the actors have decent voices (how sexy was Jason Thompson's voice?) and looked like they were having fun. I just loved them and loved General Hospital for giving us that scene, which you can watch again in the GH News Room.
I'm done gushing now, but let me just add that “(I’ve Had) the Time of My Life” was stuck in my head all weekend. Okay, I’m really done now and will move on.
What happened to Agent Raynor? I liked his flirtation with an uneasy Alexis, but he hasn’t been seen since he got the goods on Rebecca. I would think this would be a good time for him to be around, if for nothing else than for Alexis to tell him, “I told you so” about what a train wreck she is in the dating department. There’s tons of potential between the characters so I say bring him back STAT!
Can Andrea really plant emails going back months? Wouldn’t they all look like they’ve been sent on the same day? Maybe Spinelli gave her some lessons on hacking into cyberspace.
I was impressed with Carly standing up to Michael, that is until she gave him a driver’s license. Aside from the ridiculous logistics of it, Carly was a total hypocrite. After Sonny bought Michael the car, she told him they needed to make those decisions together and be on the same page. Apparently that doesn’t apply to her asking her current husband to pull strings in order to get her head injured son a driver’s license to drive said car. Not to mention, Michael will probably think he can get whatever he wants now.

I’m definitely on the side of the debate that places Dante as a fed. This is not a spoiler, as I have no future knowledge of this storyline, but it makes sense. He won’t talk about his job with his mother, the guy in the laundry mat made me question what Dante was really doing and he is a little too desperate to get into Sonny’s organization. It would also create tons of drama if undercover fed, Dante, learns the mob boss he is trying to take down, Sonny, is really his father. The fallout for both men, as well as for Olivia, would be great soap for some time to come, so I hope that's where this storyline is going.
Jason has totally snuck up on me as one of the funniest characters on the show, but as the straight man of course. His expressions are priceless! The look on his face when Diane asked him to stay in jail for Alexis’ benefit was hysterical, as was his reaction to her going in his pants for his phone. Also, his exasperation with Spinelli and Maxie is always amusing, and as I said before, he and Johnny are becoming a great comedic team. More please!
I still don’t care much about Rebecca, Nikolas and Ethan. I guess Ethan will just continue to get more and more jealous of Rebecca’s attraction to Nikolas, but shouldn’t he really be more concerned about where his newly found father, Luke, has gone?
The only thing that stuck out for me about these characters this week was when they were at Jake’s watching Robin and Patrick sing. I thought Ethan enjoyed their performance a little too much. He doesn't know them that well (has he even met Patrick?), so him heartily laughing at their playfulness on stage was a little over the top. However, Nikolas’ blank expression, while everyone else was enjoying their performance, was dead on. There’s no way the proper and reserved prince would be clapping and cheering them on with the rest of the crowd, so I appreciated Tyler Christopher (Nikolas) staying in character.
Sometimes it's the little things that make a scene and soap work.
So that’s all I got for this week. How about you? Feel free to agree or disagree with me and share your thoughts about General Hospital below.
