    The evidence. (ABC)
The GH Rant from July 14 – 18:

This week ran the gamut between the ridiculous and the extremely sad. It happens every now and again, but this time was exceptional.

    Oh, for Heaven's sake.
The whole immigration debacle was disturbing and stunk to high heaven. It was inevitable that Maxie would find a number to a so-called immigration person on Nathan's phone. Now we're just waiting for the flashback where Levi made the call like before. What we really need to see is someone catching Levi paying off the fake immigration dude. Nathan's right, we need the old Maxie back.

    Don't even think it.
It can't be possible but it's likely many of us are thinking it. The crazy ridiculous paths future storylines could take. Perhaps Nina could have a brain tumor, just like Franco did. She'll get it removed and rip up her revenge to-do list. And Rafe could be a vampire who comes back to the show to haunt Lucy. Who knows, these things may come to pass. It might even be more likely that they do than it would be that Dante would figure out something's not kosher in regard to Delia stealing Sonny's flash drive or that Michael would speak to Alice about Tracy to clear things up in a reasonable amount of time.

    Go ask Alice?
Yes, we all wish Michael would. Both Michael and Tracy need a reality check. He should have instinctively known that Tracy was up to something and Tracy should have known her place at the hospital. She is not the candy-striper who collects and redistributes hearts. One fan on Twitter summed up her new predicament nicely.

    Sonny.
Pretty soon Sonny will come to the realization that he will need to kill everyone in Port Charles to keep all of his secrets dead and buried. The fact that Franco has gotten under Sonny's skin the most is just the best news ever. He's probably a more worthy adversary than Jax was. I hope they never get along.

    Spence, Joss and Britt.
For a second it was possible that Joss was onto Britt, but no, she was just working for Spence who bribed her with chocolate. Yes, the little guy has learned all of his moves from Nikolas probably. It's possible they've found the right balance of annoyances the viewers can take from the kids.

    Goodbye Rafe. (ABC)
    Rafe's goodbye.
If there was a more touching goodbye ever in Port Charles it was temporarily eclipsed by Tuesday's episode where Silas let Rafe go. Every actor in the scene was incredible, even Rafe for the brief moment that he was a hallucination taunting Nina.

    Is anyone really in love?
Last week's blog recounted how numerous couples were working on their issues including Morgan and Kiki who became friends again. Their understanding to get along spilled over into this week with a spark that didn't go unnoticed by Michael. It seemed these three went back to square one. That ought to make things fun. They weren't the only ones hinting at a game of musical couples. Something may have sparked between Carly and Sonny, Jordan and Shawn, and Nina and Franco. Of course on the other end of the spectrum, everyone's wires were crossed between Felix, Brad and Lucas. That triangle has more hope of sorting itself out than the one the fans really care about between Nathan, Maxie and Levi. Unless Lucas threw Felix and Brad back together.

    Friday Follow-up.
Look at that. Joss wanted to be friends with Spence, Elizabeth wanted to play with Britt, and Nina wanted to make a confession. All was right in the world. Well, not really. Maxie threw Nathan out, probably illegally, and she should have been arrested again (wink, wink). Anna dissed Silas because Patrick is a professional but surely Silas must be a failed parent looking for excuses for his own part in the downfall of Rafe. Let's just blame Anna and move on. Things were dampened with Thursday's show being moved to Friday, but at least Silas' showdown with Obrecht gave us a spark of excitement, especially when she prepared for an ambush. It was also fun to think that Nina could throw someone off the roof and no one would think she was a murderer. Unfortunately if that was ever her plan she'd soon learn that everyone survives a fall from the roof in Port Charles. A fall won't hurt as much as what will happen from the ammunition that Sam unknowingly gave to Nina. Things are getting interesting.

    Turning over a new leaf?
Sometimes there is just something off-kilter that you can't put your finger on. Dr. Obrecht and her association with Franco was just that thing. Her wanting to help him with his girlfriend and giving consideration to his mojo is bizarre and if she was flirting with him when she winked, well then, that was just freaky on top of it all. Franco seemed to think it was all copacetic and considered her a "perfectly functioning member of society" unlike his mother who kidnapped and tried to kill Carly. Are you buying into Dr. Obrecht's new leaf? Let us know. Take Soaps.com's General Hospital Poll: Obrecht is?

    Let's digress.

Dressed to kill – Jordan for her date with Mickey. Olivia was dressed to impress at the Floating Rib as well.

Episode of the week – Tuesday, loved the confrontation between Carly and Franco, real. Mickey and Jordan doing business at the Metro Court, real. Felix, Brad, Lucas and Julian, discussing their issues, real. Molly remembering the accident, real. Rafe dying, real. This episode was Emmy material.

Carly's best scene ever – with Franco, "I do love you and I'd really like you not to die." I'm going to go out on a limb and say it also included the best frozen pizza ever seen on a soap.

Nurse of the month – Elizabeth taking care of Rafe.

Oddest event – Franco gave Nina a conscience. Maybe Nina should adjust the revenge list to get even for Rafe.

Biggest disappointment – that Alice missed the Spence-run summer camp.

Best hallucination line ever – Rafe to Nina, "I'm not going gently into that good night."

    Best lines of the week.

Rafe to Nina, "Oh please, you don't have a leg to stand on. Oh wait a minute you do, two of them actually. Nina, Nina, I'd sit down if I were you."

Franco to Kiki with the Quartermaines, "You know what? I think we are really lucky we aren't Quartermaines anymore. They're so rude."

Olivia to Rocco, "If I had to pick between the Australian flip flop dude and the cop with the gigantic muscles, I'd know who I'd prefer."

Tracy to Alice, "Remember what Daddy used to say? Never accept the first offer. The next heart is going to be an even better match."

Loved when Rafe came back to life in Nina's mind, and said some great lines.

You have just laid out the craziness on GH! A big fat mess with no storyline that actually holds up or together. Desperate times for the writers, et. al. They have completely destroyed GH as a credible show with any believable characters--or even any characters that a viewer can sympathize with. I had to walk away from the screen last week--couldn't watch such insulting material. And that saddens me. It doesn't have to be that way.
