My recent visit to the Cleveland leg of the Soap Mania Tour was a day well spent. In addition to reporting on the event as a whole, I came away with plenty of tidbits to share with my fellow General Hospital fans. Laura Wright (Carly Corinthos Jacks) and Tyler Christopher (Nikolas Cassidine) received the majority of questions from the group and I typed my little fingers off in an effort not to miss a thing.

    Does Laura work out?

Laura: I try to do something. I work out in my dressing room sometimes with tapes…I'm the world's biggest fan of "The Biggest Loser." I'd love to be a runner, but I'm just not. I take Pilates three or four times a week. Pilates is only an hour. I can handle that, it's the cardiovascular that I really suck at.

Does Laura really like junk food like cheesy snacks and frozen pizza?

Laura: I'm not a big fan of sweets, but my weakness is salty foods. I do eat healthy. I love salads and a big fat steak.

    Does Tyler feel underused lately?

Tyler: Well, my character was tied to the character of Emily for years and when they finally were separated, the fans wanted no part of it. So, with Natalia gone, there wasn't much for me to do.

What's going to happen with Nadine?

Tyler: She gets the boot. (He lifted up his boot for emphasis and gave a sly smile.)

Do you guys know your storyline in advance?

Laura: Yes, you do know your story in advance, maybe by a few months. We have a general idea of what's going to happen.

Who is your favorite person to work with?

Laura: I actually have a blast every day no matter who I work with. Ingo makes me laugh my head off. Maurice is an odd bird. And, Steve Burton is like a big brother, he punches me and I hit him back. Sarah Brown? That girl is crazy but fun. The way I look at it is if I have to be away from my family I’d better be having a darn good time.

What was your favorite storyline over the years?

Tyler: When I first came on the show - about a thousand years ago - it was very nostalgic for me. It was my first job, I'd never done anything before. My first scenes were with Genie Francis and Tony Geary and I was so intimidated. They were so warm to me and kind of took me under their wing. They taught me a lot about the business. So, it wasn't a story in particular, but a time for me that was really memorable.

The fans are so sick of the mob! When will the stories be about the hospital again?

Laura: You know, everything that you guys think, we think. We read the script and say 'What the hell?' For example, there was a good storyline in place between Jax, Carly and Nikolas. But it was overruled because apparently Carly needs to hang out with Sonny and Jason. That was a bummer.

    What's the deal with Emily/Rebecca?

Tyler: Natalia (Livingston, ex-Emily and current Rebecca) is playing a different character who is the exact opposite of Emily's personality. That's what we're going for. I don’t know that we're there yet, but that's what we're going for.

Is that a tattoo on Laura's lower back?

Laura: Yep (she gets up and shows it). They try to cover it up at work, but I'd like to think that Carly would have a tattoo, don't you think?

Do you guys ever get tired of posing for photos and signing autographs at fan events?

Laura: Give me a cocktail and I'll smile all night long.

As you might have deducted, Laura was a bit more chatty than Tyler. But, it was my first time to meet her so I was glad to hear everything she had to say. Tyler may be a man of few words, but a person can get a good deal of input from him by just watching his mannerisms. He lit up when recalling his first experiences on the soap, that was good to see. As for Laura, she pretty much had a sparkle thing going the entire day.
