    Total devastation. (ABC)
"GH" Rundown for the week of August 26-30:

The top-notch performances on the show cannot be overstated. From Olivia’s stunning delivery of a devastated cousin in grief to Spin’s initial joy mixed with outrage after learning he was a father, everyone upped their game. AJ was pitch perfect as the hungover potential murder suspect with a sketchy memory and Sonny as the broken-hearted mobster bent on revenge. And of course, there was Michael to pick up everyone’s messy pieces. What a week of incredible confrontations.

    Daddy duty.
Julian had quite a week himself. He doesn't exactly seem the type to lose his cool over anything, but I guess realizing you impregnated someone years ago and now you are needed to save your grandchild’s life without anyone knowing who you really are would be a little stressful for anyone. Alexis' come-hither looks and cleavage might make the transition easier. But what a juicy little web this weaves for Ava now that her niece is a rival for her true love’s affections. Bring on the layers GH writers!

Spin also became an insta-dad and, out of all the stellar performances, his was one of the best of the week. Heartbroken, shocked, excited, defeated – Spin nailed it all without losing who he is as a person. He was absolutely compelling to watch and showed us he can handle much deeper and darker storylines than computer hacking and relish spying. Please, please let us get to see him as a father too. The longing was practically radiating off of him as he looked through the glass at his daughter. And his confrontation with Maxie was everything we hoped it would be.

    Wishful thinking.
It should be a requirement that any baby born at General Hospital has a mandatory DNA test, especially if people start claiming the baby as their own, drug induced or not. Lulu has not felt right for a while about Maxie’s attachment to the baby and it almost seems she's too scared to find out the truth about why. "There has to be a reason she would say this baby is hers, and yours," she said to Spin. You think?

    Goodbye Connie.
First of all, if Sonny really wanted to help Connie shouldn’t he have been putting pressure on that gaping wound in her gut? Yikes. Then, full minutes went by before he called 911. Regardless, it was sad watching him say goodbye to Connie. She was his first love and their connection has been undeniable for years. But seriously, can there be some happiness for Sonny soon? Actually, the person who needs some happiness even more than Sonny is Olivia. Once again, her performance was impeccable. Back when Trey died, she was the one who brought emotion to his passing. She brought the same intensity to losing Connie. If someone dies in Port Charles and Olivia doesn’t grieve, did it really happen?

    Stellar performance. (ABC)
A massive headache and plenty of regrets.
Wow, what a fun drunk AJ is. Nothing like falling through a glass table to really put an exclamation mark on a sloppy, violent bender. Doh! Michael’s pleas for one father to spare the life of the other were so intense – he and Sonny played so well off of each other. Of course, this is all assuming AJ was the one who pulled the trigger. Nothing is ever as it seems when death is concerned and it seems too easy to put it on him. Shouldn’t there be security footage from Connie’s office, or at least the entrance to the elevator? Getting questioned for murder during a raging hangover looked like no fun and Diane is certainly earning her money lately.

    This is big.
Felix couldn’t wait to spill about Britt’s arrest to Patrick and Sabrina despite Anna asking him to keep quiet, but can you really blame him? News that Britt’s mom was the one who held Duke hostage is about as juicy as you can get, considering the ties with Robin. It was about time Patrick blew up at her after all her lies. Her telling him the truth though was totally unexpected. However, Britt at Wyndemere totally works. A semi-evil girl could get used to that kind of life, especially with a prince like Nikolas to bail her out and all. Pretty sure Liz’s buyer’s remorse is kicking into high gear now.

    One for the road.
Luke and Tracy are much more interesting to watch lately than Luke and Laura. Their heat while saying goodbye was palpable. But Laura and Scotty? Meh. Scotty asking for the divorce was a bit of a surprise considering he practically pushed her down the aisle, despite always doubting her feelings about him. So if Laura doesn’t fit with Luke, and she doesn’t fit with Scott, where does she fit? Odds are missing her medical tests in Paris will give us a clue soon.

    Big forgiveness tour.
The roof of GH certainly gets plenty of action considering it’s a restricted area. For such an honorable character it was hard to muster sympathy for Ellie after seeing poor Spin’s reaction to the news. Franco was more likable in their moment. And of course, there was Carly again to talk him down from another precarious situation. This is getting to be their thing.

Ava did it, but it had nothing to do with Kiki. She did to keep Connie from telling Sonny that the Jerome Family was in town to take him down.

GH needs writers who write for GH and GH characters. Newly hired folks keep coming in, but why not rehired the ones that were let go. Jaxs,Johnny, Dr. Steve, why not rehire these people? Get rid of Franco, Carly do not need to be hooked up with him, bring Jaxs back. Where is Lucky or Ethan? This is GH and we want GH folks and storylines with their history.Ron C. have tried to rewrite to damn much of GH history.

Genie Francis' scenes with Tony Geary were by far the most heart-wrenching and heart-felt scenes this week. Luke and Laura will always fit. Genie left it all on the floor. She gave it all this week. How beautiful to watch the chemistry blossom again between her and Tony Geary. When she took Luke's face in her hands--heartbreaking. And their kisses--so wonderful to see how Genie drew Tony Geary into the scene and elicited his comment (which seemed very "real" to me): "I haven't always been gracious and I want to thank you," he said. Give that Emmy to Genie--she earned it and deserves it.
PS Do you remember when Tracy used to call Luke "something that got stuck on the bottom of her shoe"? That's the old Tracy and the old Luke couldn't stand her self-centeredness and her superficiality. What a violation of both characters to put them together ever--maybe they could be civil but not even friends. Lover? Never? Violation of characters never works for me.
