    "Your mother did what?" (Soaps.com)
"General Hospital" weekly rundown April 2 - 6:

Heather Webber returned, Anna and John teamed up, and a major bomb was dropped on Sam. All in all, it was another compelling week in Port Charles, so let's get right to it.

    History lessons.

Trying to catch viewers up on the past can be a tricky thing on a soap. Dialogue is either repeated ad nauseam or awkward and forced. That was not the case last Monday though, as a couple of history lessons were effortlessly given. When Heather Webber returned to the canvas, Steve gave Olivia a quick recap of her misdeeds. Not only did it feel like an obvious conversation a couple would have, it briefed the audience and led to one of the greatest soap reactions ever from Olivia: "Holy Mary Mother of God." How else do you respond upon hearing that your boyfriend's mother sold him on the black market? Likewise, Anna and John partook in dialogue that seamlessly let the audience know they worked together in the past, while recapping their individual histories. There was no clumsy exposition in either situation. Just organic conversations people in their predicaments would have.

    Rewrite.

It's a little ridiculous that history has been changed - Susan Moore unknowingly gave birth to both Jason and Franco - but in the world of soaps, it is sort of acceptable. History is rewritten all the time on a soap. Often, to great results. And it's not the first time Heather has sold a baby, so it totally fits her character. Not to mention, it makes Franco's obsession with Jason more understandable. It's not clear why he didn’t tell him they were brothers in the first place, but Franco's extreme interest in Stone Cold, that strangely seemed more sexual than brotherly, makes more sense. Furthermore, it's the first time in a long time the Franco storyline has actually been intriguing, but maybe that's just due to the crazy, yet entertaining, Heather, who fittingly is a fan of the mad artist. What do you think of this twist? Vote in our General Hospital Poll: Jason and Franco as Twins.

    Connie's out to play. (Soaps.com)
    Extended family.
Jason wasn't the only one to get a new family member last week. After nine years of living in Llanview, where viewers met his brother and mother and heard about his father, it appears John McBain also had a secret sister. Her presumed demise allegedly came courtesy of Sonny. Since it's been great fun so far to watch McBain interact with half of Port Charles in his quest to bring down the Dimpled Don and we now get the pleasure of watching him pair up with divine Anna Devane, it's an acceptable and even welcome rewrite.

    Is she drunk?

Connie spent much of last week calling herself Kate, but talking to the good people of Port Charles like Connie. Sure, Jason thought something was off and Liz wondered if she was drunk, but why didn't anyone point out the refined and polished Kate was suddenly talking like a real housewife of New Jersey? Then there was Ewen shaking the Connie out of Kate in the middle of the most popular restaurant in town. Everyone they knew must have gone to Kelly's that day, as the unfamiliar patrons of the Metro Court restaurant gave a poor showing during what looked like an episode of "What Would You Do?" Apparently, they wouldn't do anything upon witnessing a man accost a woman in public.

    Burning questions:

Has Maggie fallen into the abyss with Terrell, Noah, Holly, Helena and others who have disappeared from the canvas with no explanation?

Did Sam learn nothing from lying to Jason about Robin? How can she not know keeping the secret about Franco, while confiding in John McBain is anything but a good idea?

Now that Franco is thought to be Jason's brother, does that mean he is Alan's son? Or will they take a cue from "Days of Our Lives'" Johnny and Ali paternity story and give him a different father?

Unless going undercover in sexy lingerie is Lulu's bliss, how can she want to pose as a stripper? Did the brothel debacle teach her nothing? And wouldn’t her ex-boyfriend, Vaughn's owner Johnny Zacchara recognize her?

Aside from falling more in love with Patrick after he tried to get through to Maxie, that's all I got this time around. What did you think of last week's "General Hospital?" Feel free to share your thoughts and pose your own burning questions below.
